I Love Football Narrative Essay
Was there ever a time you felt you truly discovered your reason for doing something you love? The first time that I discovered that I loved football, was when I was playing football. My whole life I have been told i'm a really tough kid, and at the time I was a soccer player. My sixth grade year playing soccer I started to be more rough when I played. It got to the point where I was nicknamed the bulldozer. I was at the level when kids would start to flop to get the penalty. I then realized that I didn’t want to play a sport where you had to fake being hurt. So the next year I joined the football team my seventh grade year. This was the year that started it all with football for me. Football always came easy for me, I would always watch Sunday and Monday night football when the Cowboys were playing. The physical part took longer to get down but I ended up learning how to use my pads. My coach at the time would say that I am a natural at the Safety …show more content…
I remember coach saying that we would be the first football team to be playing on the new turf field. So a win was expected of us. I remember it was late in the game no one has scored yet and we were on defense. Coach told me before the game to follow my instincts. So when the ball was snapped i dropped back and kept my eyes on the QB the whole time until he threw it. The reviver did a deep slant my way and the QB overthrew it and the ball came right into my hands. At the moment I didn’t know what to do so I ran as fast as I could. I was so scared of getting hit by this giant 7th grader but i couldn’t run my way out of this situation, and all of a sudden Carson Alford comes out of nowhere and blocked him then I ran it in for a touchdown. I learned that day that football wasn’t just about hitting people as hard as you can. I learned that it was playing for the person next to you so that everyone can be

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

Football is something that defines me in many ways. Football taught me many things but one of the biggest was becoming a young man. The sport itself didn't teach to be a man but the coach that felt like father figures in the four year in highschool that gave me life lectures. My coaches taught me simple things like how to shake hands like a man to learning to deal with situation that are hard to deal with alone. My coaches have helped me become the young man I am with manner, attention to details, and sense of urgency. Without football and the discipline I've been through, I would have been a MORE of a person who quits when it gets hard. Football is what taught to keep trying even when it's hard and to try my best because at some point you…

I knew something was serious and my parents came and drove me to the hospital. At the hospital they told me my appendix was about to burst and I would have to have emergency surgery. For the next 6 weeks I was mandated to sit out as I watched my senior season slip through my fingertips. I sat at home for the first week and reflected on how my attitude should be when I come back. I came to the conclusion I was still the leader of the team and even if I wasn’t able to play, I could still lead the team and show my commitment through continuous support. It was not easy. Watching your whole school cheer on everyone else, knowing you are the game changer sitting on the sideline because of a fluke body reaction. Through all of this I learned to fight through hard times and be positive and work hard because when I was able to return, I was more than ready. In the final game I played and my first game back, I rushed for 197 yards, two touchdowns, and led the defense in tackles. I can truly say I have never been more proud of myself and not only was it because I worked hard to recover from my injury, but because I showed my teammates that I would not give up and I would stick by them and do everything possible. It was a bittersweet feeling to leave the field for my last high school football game, but it was definitely more sweet than…
