Hyponatremic Case Studies
The patient is a 64-year-old female who is sent from Dr. Benz office for evaluation of fever. The patient recently underwent round 2 of chemotherapy for pancreatic carcinoma. She has had a fever for last 2-3 days. She is complaining of a cough nonproductive with occasional phlegm. She also has some nausea but no active vomiting, no chest pain or shortness of breath. The patient has a porta a cath on the right side and she is admitted for suspected sepsis: She has a fever of 102.6. Her medical history is significant for depression, fibromyalgia and the bipolar just disorder and demyelinating tumor of the head of the pancreas. Laboratory work reveals her to be somewhat hyponatremic at 134. Her glucoses are 187 and 316. Albumin is 3.4
