Hyperxtrude Simulations: How It Is Produced By Altair Inc.
3.1 HyperXtrude simulations
HyperXtrude is commercial software for simulation which was produced by Altair Inc. It is good at and special for die design and material flow in the extrusion process of metals and polymers. If the simulations are accurate enough for different profile designs and thermo-mechanical behavior of the billet materials, it is very important for die designers and production engineers to predict and reduce the cost of die trials. It is of very practical for producing balanced material flow with minimum profile distortion in the industry because die iterations is marked by expensive and time-consuming /wiki11/.
There are several key benefit features of HyperXtrude /HyperXtrude Users Manual/:
1. Specific Interface for graphical

To simplify theoretical analysis, it is usually divided into three different stages. The first stage is acceleration, the unsteady state at the beginning stage of extrusion process. The second is the steady state when the deformation domain of the material reaches and retains the largest value until the material flows out of the bearing. The third is the unsteady state again when the deformation domain reduces /Sah98/.
Extrusion can be operated under steady state or unsteady state conditions; however most of the simulation works were done on steady state conditions. The extent of the steady state stage is determined by the ratio of the height to the diameter of the billet during the extrusion process. A greater ratio results in a greater proportion of the process given over to the steady state stage. This scenario always reflects the relationship between the steady state stage, transient-state processes and unsteady extrusion stage for the flow rule. Study of the material flow intransient or unsteady extrusion stage is also significant and it is required to establish a suitable process and die design. Moreover, numerous of parameters studying, such as, the temperature distribution, the friction and the defects in transient process should be investigated in the simulation /Wil02/. Therefore, in this study, the transient model for ALE simulation of aluminum (magnesium) extrusion process is built, to compare with the practical experimental

3D printing is fast becoming a massive part of manufacturing and fabrication all over the world. Scientists and technological experts are able to make a three dimensional solid object from a digital on screen model. This is achieved using an additive process where different materials i.e. liquid, powder or sheet material are added to a printer, which then come together to create layers as thin as 100 micrometres, even 16 micrometres in some cases. Millions of these layers are fused together to create the end product as designed on the computer. The final product and drawing are almost identical.…
