Expressing Beliefs Through Arts: Humanism vs. Christianity
Art played a major role during the Renaissance all across Europe. However, many artists from different areas conveyed art in different means. For example, Northern Art focused on a more religious approach, while Italian Art leaned more towards humanist beliefs. In the painting titled The Last Supper by Albrecht Dürer, it depicts a picture of Jesus Christ attending his final supper. Jesus Christ is the son of God, and he is highly regarded by Christians, so Dürer alters the lighting so it will especially shine upon Christ, inferring that Christ is of high importance in the Christian faith.
