Human Trafficking In Mainstream Media
The purpose of this project is to show how mainstream media overlooks the true victims of human trafficking. This is significant because the media’s portrayal of human trafficking victims affects the public view of victims. Films and documentaries are analyzed to show how the media has grabbed onto the concept that sex sells. The primary victim of human trafficking shown in mainstream media is a victim of sex trafficking. Data was collected from the films and documentaries including the victims’ age, race, and gender. Where victims were trafficked to and from, and for what reason was analyzed as well. There are countless different reasons for a human being to be trafficked including, sexual exploitation, forced labor, forced combat, and organ
