HUMAN RIGHTS

Human Rights plays a role in everyone’s life, but not everyone realizes it. It’s involved in every comment you make that includes someone different. Every near discriminatory “joke” you say. It affects people, even if it doesn’t affect you. Human rights means being able to hold hands with the person you love, work where you’re qualified to work without your skin color or sexual orientation being the reason you can’t; it means having the right to be human, making choices and mistakes. Society has gotten to the point where people think it doesn’t matter what they say, that they think their comments and hate don’t affect other people. Humans are often hurtful towards each other, but I believe we all were born with the innate of compassion and love. These days, I see parents showing their kids what to think instead of how to think. I see people not being able to marry someone they love because they are the same gender, even though it is acceptable to marry someone then divorce the next day. People say gays aren’t socially acceptable, but the thing is, slavery was once the norm. I hear and see this type of thing everyday; people being ignorant and neglecting the notion that all humans are equal. I wish I didn’t see bias and prejudice, young and old, ignoring the fact that we’re the same. Humans aren’t born racist, homophobic or sexist. We were born equal. So why is it everyone is bent on believing that one life is less important than another? The right to be who we’re destined to be belongs to everyone, not just people who are favored or socially acceptable. I can look around and see a flawed humanity. My one hope is to see that change. Because we may be different on the outside, but we are all human. Nothing else should define us. not race, sex, or sexual orientation. So overall what I’m trying to say is any human beings should always be treated with respect, whether you like the person or not. Respect their own rights, and

The concept of Human Rights is one that is difficult to put into words. Simply put, the idea of human rights vary from culture to culture, therefore, the idea that human rights can be actualized for each person is impossible. The way people of certain races are treated in the U.S. differs from way that they may be treated in an area such as France as stated by Josephine Baker in her “Speech at the March on Washington”. Religious intolerance is also very relevant in many places, as seen in Elie Wiesels Night. Each country has unique cultural and societal normalities reguarding Human Rights, making it impossible for every person to have every one of the Human Rights.…

Our rights as a civilization has grown ever since its first ideas of rights. In the eighteenth century, many of today's modern rights were not even thought of. People like as the enlightenment philosophers such John Locke, Adam Smith, Voltaire and May Wollstonecraft were the ones to start questioning why everyone should be capable of having the same rights. Ideas such as the rights of men, how the people should be the ones to choose for the economy, the right to choose the religion you want, and equality for women were the main ideas that Locke, Smith, Voltaire, and Wollstonecraft had stood for.…

We have discussed, addressed issues and tried to understand various groups within our society. Groups relating to the GLTB communities, Gender Groups, Racial Groups, Religious Groups, and Ethnic Groups. Each group has faced extensive trauma and have been faced with much discrimination because of who they are and what they represent. In my opinion, no person should be treated poorly based on what they want to be or who they may resemble. We have learned of the issues that they all have faced and what they all continue to encounter from time to time and because of these incidences, I have a better understanding of what they are going through and what they encounter in their lives. In all reality, each person, despite what group they may come from, may face the same type of ill treatment and discrimination. So why continue the cycle of stereotypes, discrimination and mistreatment. We are people.…

As a woman of color and member of the LGBT+ community, I have experienced prejudice in various, intimate forms. As patriotic as I am, I cannot help but feel sorrow at the injustices in our society. I possess hope for the future that conditions will better for all peoples in our country. My conviction is that the first step to acquiring social justice is erasing ignorance. Importance lies in recognizing the signs of institutionalized injustice. In relation to the well known idiom "ignorance is bliss," the bliss of the ignorant rests upon the unjust treatment of those suffering oppression. On the other hand, the oppressed may also be ignorant of their oppression as a deliberate means to keep them oppressed when they could be…

When it comes to gender, race, religion, disabled, economics, etc. we have to realize we are all alike. All human beings. We need to be equal with one another. No body should be treated badly or differently for what they have or how they look. When society tries to make someone look bad, it is really making itself look worse. Lets stop the inequality problem. Skin color does not matter. Being more wealthy than another does not matter. And just because we are all a little different, does not mean we need to treat others…

Finally, I have the responsibility to show respect for other’s rights. Although I may have a different opinion than another person, this person has the same right as I do to express this opinion. If I were to deny them this right, or treat them differently because of what makes them different, it would be an act of disrespect not only to this individual, but to all of the people who made sacrifices to give them the right to be who they are, and act of disrespect towards everyone who has worked to make this country a place where people are accepted.…

One of the most controversial problems in the world today is racial inequality. Ever since I was a little girl, I was always told to see the beauty coming from the inside of a person's heart and to never judge someone by the color of their skin. As I got older, I started to realize just how serious of a problem this was and that many people take racial segregation and inequality to an extreme level.…

“A life is not important except the impact it has on other lives.”(Robinson). If you have an impact on people’s lives, why make it a negative one. Judging people for their skin color, academic status, or anything like that is extremely disrespectful. Most of the time, people see right through the good qualities, and just focus on the bad ones. Diversity is everywhere, and it is constantly looked down on. The prejudices and stereotypes that come with it make that obvious, but when you think about it, diversity is something to celebrate about. If diversity didn’t exist in the world, then every part of life would be boring. Diversity is often misunderstood as a negative thing, but in reality, it is positive.…
