Personal Response: After seeing Robert Roesch’s piece of art called “Transition” I could not believe how extravagant it truly was. The overall work of art from my perspective is actually inspirational. There are five durable pieces of steel standing side by side, and each piece grows one by one. At the tip of each pole there is a light fixture with a light bulb. This entire work of art just reminds me of college in general. Every pole represents a new beginning and a new year. The colors of each pole mean something too. Basically what Roesch is trying to say is that at first you feel like you’re at the bottom, it is dark and scary but then the year gets brighter because at the top of each piece is a light fixture. Each sculpture gets bigger and brighter each time. That means that each year you will experience hard times and fun times, you just have to pull through and try your best. In the end you’ll grow into a mature adult and be ready for reality. Robert Roesch did a great job at creating this piece because personally, it definitely touched my heart. If someone’s ever on campus and has extra time on their hands they definitely should stop by and check out Transition.

Description: Robert Roesch’s, “Transition” can be described as very peaceful and calming. With a first glimpse of the model you just get blow away at how amazing it actually is. Having to draw the piece isn’t the easiest thing in the world though. It was hard to try and get all of the

When we talk about science, many people hear the term “theory”. The definition of a scientific theory can become confusing since many people interpret the meaning differently. When a person uses the term “theory” in a sentence it is usually used in a non-scientific way. They assume that a theory is something assumed, but not proven. When the term “theory” is used in science, it means an explanation based on observation, experimentation, and reasoning. It has been tested and confirmed as a general principle to explain phenomena. A scientific theory must be based on careful examination of facts. “A theory is a hypothesis or set of hypotheses that has stood the test and (so far, at least) has not been contradicted by evidence” (Suplee 9).…

After re-reading a few short talks, I began to feel like I was that little kid again going to the museum for the first time. I just couldn’t understand the concept of modern art. Going from crayons and markers to Rembrandts and Monet’s is no easy task. In grade school it was exciting going to the museum. Looking at all the pictures and colors and different objects and forms.…

I really like that you focused on impressionism in your paragraph. I was really impressed and inspired by how it came to be. A group of artists that were rejected time aft time by the Salon, which was the by all to end all art show of the time, banded together in a way and produced their own version of art and became huge movement an respected art style. Art to me is all about self-expression, and I can’t think of a better part of one’s self to express than the ability to handle setbacks gracefully. These inspiring young artists took rejection and turned it into something beautiful and creative, rather than let it defeat them. I really admire that.…

Always Smiling, always is a piece is by Russell Noto created in 2014, and is located on the first floor of the Jen library. This piece jumped out at me for many reasons; it had this complex and thought out color scheme, you had light and happy colors in one and then ominous dark colors to really pop out against the white wall background, and with it consisting of two parts you had to do a double take to ponder if they were just obscenely close, or if these very different works of art were actually one whole in the greater layout of everything. After you get to spend some time truly appreciating this piece the overall idea of how people feel we must hide certain emotions becomes more and…

Individuals moving into the world are bound to come across many obstacles that they overcome to be successful. “I’m coming aren’t I? It’s that stupid bleeding door of yours” complains Rita, at the initial stage of going into the world. The door is a symbol for the barrier of going into the world. As Rita progresses, the door becomes easier to open, until she’s at the final stage of going into the world, when she bursts through the door. SimilarlyThese are symbols of the obstacles of going into the world and the effort needed. Once obstacles are overcome, it’s an education for individuals, it provides growth and development.…

Rene Descartes in his Discourse of the Method begins with the problem of showing and proving his own existence, but later in the reading changes the problem and it is concentrating on proving the existence of God. The first time that I thought to myself that this reading is probably about something else than proving his own existence was where the author started talking about perfection. The author defined God as “something that truly was more perfect than I was, something indeed having perfections of which I could have any idea” (Descartes, 2010, p.16).…

Since I was old enough to hold a crayon, I have wanted to be an artist. The desire to create has grown exponentially with time, and so I attended the University of Iowa to expand my creative capabilities and learn from the work of experienced faculty and other students. Through my studies, I quickly learned a traditional fine arts education focused on technique. However, I learned the strength of my art resided in the conceptualization of my own story and emotions…

The advantages of social media, is being able to have sites like blog and all other social sites which allows us to be able to express our self. For example, the blog, in the blog site we have the choice to write down anything, it can be from what you do daily or what happened to your today, and many people around the world will be able to hear your story disregard if they know you or not. Blog is where you can write down pretty much anything and without worrying about what others opinon will be because that is where you want to express your feeling, emotions or daily activities. I actually follow some of the blogger, simply because I admire their work and I find it interested to know how they achieved their dreams. Twitter, is another one of the popular social media where you can keep up with what is going on with different celebrities and chat with them. It also allows you to keep up with their touring schedules and latest music. It’s a great way to follow people who interest you or share the same interest. Facebook, which is my personally a favor social media, it allows you to connect with friends that you might ever see again after high school. Or communicate with long distance family members and friends. You can let everyone know what’s on your mind that day or just in the moment by writing in the box labeled, “What’s On Your Mind”. You can watch different video clips from different websites, listen to music, become a fan of your favorite artist, discuss the newest books, and create an event. Social media websites offer a lot and there is so much you can do with them. You can launch a new business on their and play a game all at the same time. Now, one disadvantage probably would be for one negative feedback. There are people that is rule and disrespectful toward others simply because they are behind computers thinking that no body will ever know the real him/her. So they just go ahead and be…

To begin his Power Point exhibition, he displays 5 large Photoshop Gradient Demonstrations with a thick purple shag carpet to set the homey atmosphere to the room. Arcangel’s colorful prints were produced by using a gradient tool, commonly used on photoshop. His conceptually driven, first room, brings up the notion of lack of skill and more mechanically reproduced art work. The 5 pieces were mimicking more of a color field style of art, which had emerged in New York throughout the 1940’s and 1950’s. The bright, geometrical, photoshop gradient pieces of art and the purple carpet, make it a fun and childish first impression. However, due to the fact that all the pieces of art are computer generated, it makes it uncomfortable for its audience to consider it unique to the artist. These large…
