Influence of Entertainment Media Paper
08/05/2013

Technology is advancing and the media is doing the same. With these changes it affects different avenues such as online schooling, blogging, and authors being able to publish their work online. Many concerns arise about the academic integrity of legal and ethical issues concerning online schools and degrees, and with how blogging impacts society and American culture. This paper will discuss how Team B views the position on legal and ethical Internet issues and academic integrity for online schools, the expanding roles of blogs, and

State and defend your team’s position on legal and ethical Internet issues and academic integrity.
Learning team B’s position on ethical issues on academic integrity is there are visible areas impacted such as the internet and universities because it is easy to copyright, plagiarize, and flat out cheat. Students understand that information is easily accessible online and if work is not cited correctly it could be considered cheating and plagiarism because of the copyright infringement. Solutions to ethical issues regarding academic integrity would be Student Code of Conduct and Ethics that discusses what is acceptable, and during each class each instructor will let you know more specifically what he/she expects of each student while in her classroom. When submitting an assignment each student needs to turn in a signed document of originality stating that what you are turning in is your own thoughts turned in on the assignment, and our position on the need for a code of ethics for Internet authors.
· Discuss at least two specific examples of the expanding role of blogs in reporting and commenting on social, political, cultural, legal, and sports issues.
Learning Team B knows there are many roles of blogs such as political, sports, multi-author blogs, social networking, online advertising, edublogs, online diaries, and fee advertising. It is hard to limit two

I hope all is well since our last meeting. As we have recently been confronted with financial difficulties within Austen Pharmaceuticals, I have given extensive consideration in devising an effective plan for adequately addressing the directive of decreasing payroll by 15% and am prepared to share my prospective solution. As this transition will directly impact the employees, I have met with them to apprise them of the proposed cuts that have been presented and will ultimately take place. In an effort to maintain morale and make this evolution as seamless as possible for the employees, I have incorporated some of their ideas and suggestions in constructing the plan to decrease the payroll while preserving the workforce. After reviewing the most current performance evaluations for each employee, I have established a ranking system that rates each employee based on their overall performance in addition to any individual contributions that they have made which resulted in more efficiency within our division. By rating the employees based on performance, this provides a reference point to determine the most productive employees versus those who are marginal in the event that lay-offs are inevitable. The first step in fulfilling the objective of the plan is to immediately eliminate overtime and have salaried staff help out where possible to complete the work. Next, is to restructure or reduce the amount of hours that each employee works while allowing them to maintain their benefits. The more productive employees will work during peak hours and the average staff will work during off-peak hours. This will allow for the work to be completed while utilizing our best resources when the workflow is the highest. The final…

As a local television Director, my main focus is on the local news and the issues that affect the community in which I live. I would choose to make the closing of the parks for three days my lead story and leave the celebrity death to the bigger networks. My first priority is to report news that affects the citizens of the community that I serve, even with the prospect of bigger ratings; I would feel an obligation to my audience to report issues that are more closely related to them.…

I believe that the internet has made students in today’s society less ethical and lazy when it comes to doing work in school. With so many different avenues on the internet to copy and paste information makes research unnecessary. Students will just type in their topic to google and over 100 web pages will pop up and makes the research available quicker than traditional ways. Cheating has become easier and more widely tolerated, and both schools and parents have failed to give students strong, repetitive messages about what is allowed and what is prohibited. Internet access has made cheating easier, enabling students to connect instantly with answers, friends to consult and works to plagiarize. And generations of research has shown that a major factor in unethical behavior is simply how easy or hard it is. The Internet has changed attitudes, as a world of instant downloading, searching, cutting and pasting has loosened some ideas of ownership and authorship. An increased emphasis on having students work in teams may also have played a role. Also, it seems that few schools actually place any meaningful emphasis on integrity, academic or otherwise, and colleges are even more indifferent than high schools. We have a culture now where we have real trouble accepting that our kids make mistakes and fail, and when they do, we tend to blame someone else rather than fix the issue. Institutions do a poor job of making those boundaries clear and consistent, of educating students about them, of enforcing them, and of giving teachers a clear process to follow through on them. There are many different people involved in the internet and these people all have different agendas. There are companies who specialize in internet infrastructure, Internet Service Providers, as well as those who provide content. Not all companies provide services to all chat rooms or newsgroups and so forth. Therefore, ethics can only be applied when it is known who has…

A web log or blog is defined in Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary as “ a web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer.” (Merriam-Webster). Blog’s are increasingly popular to many Internet users because of its up to date information and details that cannot be covered on the mainstream media. There are variety of topics on blog, this include topics on sports, business, technology, environmental issues, politics and entertainment. To have a better understanding what a web log is and what types of blogs are out there, I have chosen 2 blogs that focuses on the housing crisis in the United States. The first blog is called “Market Ticker”, created in April 2007. The writer goes by the name of Genesis. The second blog is called “Housing Panic Blog”, created in November 2005 by Keith Brand. Here I am going to compare and contrast about these two blogs: the difference in the layouts, how they post their views, the purposes and important issues they bring up to the readers, and whether or not the two writers achieved on what they have done so far.…

With 133:49 spent on live TV, 34:17 spent on smartphones, and 27:3 spent on computers, the Nielsen report lays out the statistics needed to help our blog group gain a better understanding of our target audience and how they are retrieving their information. By making our blog smartphone and tablet friendly, I believe we will gain much more readership. As well, since Facebook is the number one most used social network across all electronic devices, it would be in our best interest to utilize this statistic to the best of our ability as far as networking and promoting our blog goes.…

Although many publics in today’s society prefer mainstream media to citizen journalism, there are many pros to blogs and wiki sites. For instance the blog, 15211 is targeted to a specific public (audience) which are the people of Mount Washington, a small part of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as it says in the about us section. Having a target audience allows for more freedom to write about anything related to that topic and not receiving many contradictory statements or backlash opinions.
