1. What type of organizational structure do you see this project operating under and why? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this operating structure compare to the other structures?
The Huntsville Project’s operating structure is a Matrix Project Type because the team consists of individuals representing several departments within the Seitz Corporation. Upon completion of the project, the team members will return to their daily duties within the company.

Describe what you have learned as you went through this project. What will you take away from this course, and what will you apply to your projects or personal life?

This project had taught me the basic skills to manage any future projects project from start to finish. The Huntsville Project has given me fundamental skills to plan my objectives, organize my tasks, and help me manage all aspects of my project. It has also helped me to understand the importance of considering my resources and budget constraints to ensure completion is done efficiently.
The skills in this course gave me the confidence to carry out this project:
I have participated as a co-chair for this year’s Holiday office Luncheon. Just before Thanksgiving, a co-worker and I were just mentioning how we cannot believe this year is almost over. Christmas and the office holiday party came up in conversation. Candy and I said we would organize it this year (this is where became came Program Managers on the Holiday Office Party Project). At lunch that after we began brainstorming ideas to make the holiday a little more fun in the days leading up to the office party. We decided on about four activities that would be fun and most would want to participate

Project management consultants were called in because, for the first time, the organization was undertaking a multi-year enterprise-wide development program that cut across multiple functional departments, instead of following their old pattern of doing projects within departments. Within the program, several major related projects were being carried out. Clearly, business as usual would not suffice. BASELINE: A FUNCTIONAL/WEAK MATRIX STRUCTURE A Functional/ (Weak) Matrix organizational structure, such as our client company had in place, works well when the focus is on quality and technical expertise. Under this structure, functional managers are responsible for products created within their areas of expertise. The downside: In the company on which this case study was based, it just wasn 't working. And their experience was not uncommon.
