I’d like to attend the University of Florida, Syracuse, or the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For UF, graduation from a regionally accredited or state-approved secondary school or the equivalent is required. For Syracuse, standardized test scores (SAT or ACT with writing section) are required if you are a domestic student or an international student studying in the U.S. or studying overseas in an American or international school. Syracuse University does not require or consider the SAT subject tests. For North Carolina, the University seeks an entering class whose collective strengths will foster excellence within the University community; enhance the education of everyone within it; provide for the leadership of the educational, governmental, scientific, business, humanistic, artistic, and professional institution of the state, nation, and world; and enrich the lives of all the people of North Carolina.…

Among the 850 plus schools that have dropped the SAT, many report a significant change in their student body. The students on the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum are more encouraged to apply to the schools they otherwise would have written off because of their SAT scores. The NACAC study also shows that non-SAT submitting students are more likely to be women, first-generation-to-college, minorities, and students from low-income families and that going test-optional had increased a school’s appeal to long distance applicants by up to 49%(Hiss, Franks 15). Since going test-optional, Wesleyan University saw a significant jump in socioeconomic and racial diversity on campus, as well as a record number of student applications in 2015.…

Texas Tech requires the student to go online and Apply Texas Application (www.applytexas.org) and a $75 application fee or fee waiver (TTU). It also requires official transcript (high school/ and or college) and official SAT, and or ACT scores (TTU). The SAT or ACT scores depend on a student’s class rank, which is divided into four quarters. If the student is in the first quarter ranking his/her score on the ACT should be 24 or higher or his/her SAT score should be 1180 (TTU). Seconds quarter ranking scores for ACT should be at a 26 and the SAT should be at 1260 (TTU). Third quarter ranking ACT score should be at a 27 and SAT should be at 1290 (TTU). If the student is in the fourth quarter ranking it will be very challenging for him/her to get in, the college/university will start by taking a look at the application review but it can be possible for the student to be accepted. Texas Tech recommended high school credentials are four Math, four English, four Science and two Foreign Languages (TTU). Being involved in extracurricular activities, having leadership experiences, service activities, or having special talents, will give the student a better chance in getting into Texas Tech (TTU). If the student is given the opportunity to join any activities like the ones listed, he/she should join just to give him/her a better…

The American College Test and Scholastic Assessment Test, commonly known as the ACT and SAT, are both standardized tests used to determine a student's academic knowledge and skills in order to identify which level of colleges and universities they can handle. The ACT Inc. calls their test an indicator of "college and career readiness" and college boards trust their numbers to reflect just that. Although it is known that college admission boards take into consideration many other factors, such as grade point average, extracurricular involvement and class rank when accepting and rejecting applicants, it in inevitable that students are still turned down because their standardized tests reflect that they are not "ready." As a result, high schools all over the nation put great emphasis on these college admissions tests that are administered nationwide to each high school junior. It is true that standardized testing is a method for colleges to rank and then select students by expressing each student's capability as a number. This number is useful because otherwise it would be very difficult to rank such a diverse group of people, each with his or her own strengths and achievements in different fields. Although this solves the problem of having to weigh the significance and precedence of each individual's past…
