| Physical | Intellectual | Emotional | Social | Pregnancy 0-9 months | Cells divide and multiply. Organs start to multiply, and embryo starts to form in to a foetus. | Brain start to grow and the foetus can hear/recognise the mother’s voice. | Develops a bond with the mother. | | Birth and infancy 0-3 years | Birth-3 months: Her motor controls started to develop,(able to move her head side to side, arms legs and feet) 3-6 months :She was able to lift her head up while lying on her belly, and kick her legs, and at 6 months she was able to roll on to her stomach 6-12 months: She was able to sit up without support and could now crawl, and was able to walk with some assistance 1-2 years: She was able to take a few steps without help, and was able to crawl up the stairs, and she started to grow her first teeth. 2-3 years: She was able to walk with a smoother pattern, and was able to jump over small obstacles e.g. garden toys, and was able to climb up a small ladder for a slide. | Birth-4 months: Her vision will go through many stages in the first couple of months. She will start recognising voices and will respond to them by making noises or moving her mouth when someone talks to her. Her memory will improve, she will remember certain people 6 -12 months: she increased on her non-verbal form of communication, and sometimes used body gestures. Her concentration skills developed; she holds interest in some toys longer than others. She became familiar with her everyday routine. Her ability to understand language developed faster than her ability to talk e.g. she would recognise her name, and look at the objects mentioned while you are talking. She became more curious, and since she could crawl, it allowed her to explore the house/ her surrounding; by opening cupboards, draws and looking under the bed. 1-3 years: She was able to link objects to events e.g. she realised that when she dropped her toy her mum or any other individual would pick it up for her. Her verbal skills are improving and she is able to carry out small requests e.g. ’pick up the toy’. She understood that she had to put away her toys after she had played with them (learnt that she had some responsibility). She improved her imagination skills through pretend play e.g. playing tea parties. She understood concepts e.g. ‘in and out’, ‘wet and dry. Her memory improved if you interrupted her activity to ask her a question she would focus on you and then return to whatever she was doing. She could count up to 10+ but when she would reach the ‘teen’ numbers to would jumble the numbers up, and she could say her alphabet with a few mistakes. | She developed a bond with her mum through breastfeeding. She would communicate with her mother/anyone else around her by crying when she needed a change, needed to be fed or when she is tired or uncomfortable. She start to learn that when she does something good or does not cry you will go to her and hug/kiss her, since she had developed a special bond with her mother she wanted to spend more time with her. She developed a sense of humour; she would laugh when someone pulled a funny face. She started to develop her own likes and dislikes e.g. she would make a fuss when she had to have a bath when she was playing; since she preferred playing rather than having a bath. She had a rough idea of what pleased her mum, and she would do different things to see what her mums reaction would be. She would enjoy playing with other children in a group as long as her mother was in the same room as her, and she could be clingy at times. | She learnt to share toys with other people, and play she learnt to play as a group. | Childhood 4-9 years | She could now speak full sentences, and | | | Made friends at school; got to know more people an fellow classmates and got along with most people in her class. | Adolescence 10-18 years | She grew taller. Went through the physical stages of puberty. She became self-conscious ; wanted to look good ( got her eyebrows done, haircut/dyed) | She understood the changes the body was going through, and also became very self-conscious. Understood certain situations from different perspectives. Understood her responsibilities (general as well as cultural; learnt how to cook/ work in kitchen), was still learning new things at school/ college. | At times she did have mood swings due to periods/puberty. Did not have a strong relationship with parents as she did in her earlier years and was more close to her friends. She was also stressed due to all her important exams taking place e.g.GCSE’s | | Adulthood 19-65 | | | | | Old age 65+ | | | | | Final stages of life | | | | |
