HSC 027 Promote health and safety in health and social care
Health and safety legislation is in place to protect all people. Employers and employees have responsibilities to make sure that the Health and Safety at Work Act and its regulations are followed properly.

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
To protect all people in all environments at a workplace
Mine: to take care of my own safety and others around me whilst at work. Also report any health and safety issues to employer
Employer: it’s a legal responsibility to ensure health and safety at workplace

Others: to obey and follow the health and safety policies, whilst within the premises
Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) 1995
This regulation is in place for employers, self-employers and those in control of premises to report specified workplace incidents.

Mine: to follow the regulation and report any specified workplace incidents to employer

Employer: to report specified workplace incidents to care quality commission

Others: to report if spotted or if being involved in a specific incident
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002
To be safe as possible from the threat of harm through coming into contact with chemicals or other dangerous substances.
Mine: to ensure potentially hazardous substances is minimized and adequately controlled in all cases. also to ensure risk assessments have been carried out before any exposure
Employer: it’s a legal responsibility to adhere fully to regulations
Others: to obey and be safe as possible whilst being a guest in the premises.
Food Safety Act 1990
The key requirements of the Act are that food must comply with food safety requirements, must be "of the nature, substance and quality demanded", and must be correctly described (labelled).
Mine: to ensure you do not include anything in food, remove anything from food or treat food in any way which means it would be damaging to the health of people eating it
Employer: to ensure that the food you serve or sell is of the nature, substance or quality which consumers would expect
Others: to report anything advertised or presented in a way that is false and misleading.
Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
The regulation is in place to avoid hazardous manual handling operations so far as is reasonably practicable, also assess any hazardous manual handling operations that cannot be avoided and reduce the risk of injury so far as is reasonably practicable.
Mine: to follow training techniques in moving and handling and take care of my own safety and others around me whilst at work.
Employer: it’s a legal responsibility to ensure the proper training and practices are followed at workplace
Others: to obey and be safe as possible whilst being a guest in the premises.
