1. Srilankan Airlines

Srilankan Airlines is the national airline of Sri Lanka, is an award winning carrier with a firm reputation as a global leader in service, comfort, safety, reliability, and punctuality.

Launched in 1979, Srilankan is currently expanding and further diversifying its wide range of products and services in order to drive the country’s ongoing boom in tourism and economic development.

The airline’s hub is located at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, providing convenient connections to its global route network of 62 destinations in 34 countries in Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Far East, North America, Australia and Africa.

Srilankan Airlines is rapidly expanding all its Airbus fleet of 21 aircraft excluding the two twin otters. It currently has 6 A340-300 aircraft, 7 A330-200/243 and 8 A320-200 aircraft.

As pilot gain more experience they are moving up the ladder which means pilots transform from one aircraft to another. For an example if an airline pilot gains more that 1500hrs on A320 type him or her then will graduate towards A330 type aircraft.
2. Determine the vacancy
When there is graduation nearby, chief pilot or the director of flight operation will inform the human resource management prior to 3 to 6 months. Flight operation department and human resource management department will discuss about the vacancies and finalize, that how many cadet pilots they are required in order to maintain flight operations effectively.
HRM department then send the report to financing department and top level management to get the approval and the budget they are able to invest on cadet pilots.
3. Recruitment Advertising
Srilankan Airlines places their recruitment advertisements on Srilankan Airlines web site and news papers. Advertisement includes. * Job descriptions * Job specification * Education requirements * Time validation of the advertisement * Special Requirements

    Another challenge is finding the right staff. As Snyder (2009) stated "Staffing is difficult- trust your instincts when hiring, then train, train, train. Ignorance costs more than training." I would see it every day in the Navy. My last job was at a command where we taught either new pilots how to fly helicopters or gave older pilots refresher training on the helicopters they used to fly. It is very fast paced and not the best environment for training the younger personnel who fix the helicopters the pilots learn on. We would naturally prefer to be able to get already qualified personnel but that doesn 't happen as often as we would like. You always have to have the "new guy" that just doesn 't know enough and you spend more time training him then you would like. Once they "new guy" is trained up they become a valuable part of the command. Unfortunately, that can take up to a couple of years and then it 's time for them to move on to another command and you have to start all over! In your own private business you have the luxury to hire only skilled people who would then only need to be trained in the new innovations as they come along.…
