Term Paper on Howard Fast’s April Morning (100 points)
You must choose one of the topics listed below these instructions, and:
1) write a paper that is a minimum of 3 pages (typed, double-spaced), (NOTE- A partial page 3 does not constitute a minimum of 3 pages! You must write on to at least page 4. Papers that do not meet the minimum page requirement will receive a significant reduction in grade),
2) use the “introduction-body-conclusion” format that is expected of all college-level writing,
3) display clarity of expression in your writing,
4) use correct grammar and spelling in your writing,
5) avoid use of the “I” first-person perspective,
6) cite from the novel at least seven times in your paper,
7) note the page number in parentheses when you are citing from the novel,
8) include a title and the exact wording of your question as part of your cover page,
9) submit the paper at the beginning of the final-exam period, and
10) do not use two double-spaces between paragraphs!

Other rules that apply to this assignment are:
1) no late papers will be accepted,
2) any act of plagiarism will result in the student receiving a grade of ‘F’ for the entire course, and
3) completion of this paper (on time) is a minimum requirement for passing the course.

POSSIBLE TOPICS

Topic #1- Images and symbolism of youth and a “coming of age” are major themes in April Morning. Describe and analyze Fast’s use of this dual-symbolism in both Adam’s character and in the emergence of a young nation.

Topic #2- Describe and analyze the role that women play in the events of April Morning. Does Fast see women as vital players in the opening events of the Revolution?

Topic #3- Describe and analyze the role that community plays in the conflict of the novel. Does Fast see community as an important asset in the opening days of the Revolution?
