How I Utilised My Summer Vacations
Vacations are the best time to relax and enjoy and I eagerly wait for my summer vacations every year. Every year my school closes in the middle of the month of May and reopens by the end of June. Annual exams get over and the results are declared.

This time I got promoted to class nine from class eight. After the hard labor for the examinations, I wanted some rest and also some refreshment. Hence I put aside my books for a few weeks. Next day morning I went out to play with my friends.

It was a very hot and sunny day so we decided to play indoor games. In the evening I asked my father and mother to take me to any of the hill stations because I wanted to beat the heat. My father told me that we cannot go to a hill station because all the hotels and resorts are booked beforehand only.

It was too hot, the sun was scorching and the wind was deliberating. Fortunately my uncle had invited my family to Haridwar where he had reached two weeks earlier. Me and my parents reached Haridwar. My uncle, my aunty and my cousins were all very excited to see all of us. They welcomed us with a warm heart.

At Haridwar I went to the bank of River Ganga in the morning and it was very pleasant to see hundreds of men and women bathing in the stream of Ganga and then offering prayers in the different temples of its “Ghats”.

I requested my uncle to take us to the hilly spots in the vicinity. He was kind enough to take all of us there. The hill sights of Laxmi jhoola, Swargashram and many other spots fascinated me. I saw a large number of trees bearing beautiful fruits and flowers.

The peeping of Sun’s rays in the morning and evening was really very charming. The waterfall at some distances shone like flowing silver in the moonlight. The cool breeze was always felt. No heat or dust of the plain was felt here. I was very much pleased.

We remained there for two whole weeks. From there my father and my uncle planned to go on a pilgrimage. We left for Mathura and Vrindavan.

This debate has involved comparing the different advantages and disadvantages of the two schedules. While a traditional summer vacation may…

'A Visit to hill a Station' is an exciting experience. It gives a chance to live in the lap of Nature. In direct touch of Nature we can feel a divine peace and calmness in mind. It makes us feel to be lucky among millions who are over busy in world by affairs. India is a hot country. It is terribly hot during the months of May and June. The northern plains of India are very hot in these months. Hence a trip to some hill station is always tempting. Everybody likes to go somewhere in the lap of Nature to keep himself/herself away from the intense heat of the plains. But those who have money only they go to hills to enjoy their time whole heartedly. The hills not only give relief from heat but are also useful for health. God seems to smile through the beautiful and lovely scenes of Nature. In Northern India there are many hill stations like Nainital, Shimla and Mussourie etc. I had a great desire to visit Shimla. So, I with my friends, made a program to spend summer at Shimla. We reached Shimla in the morning. We went there in the month of June by bus.We made arrangements for our stay in a private house. It was on the top of the hill. The surroundings were very charming. We could see the beauty of Nature and hills; we could also see the lower portion of Shimla from there. We arranged a servant there. He swept the house and prepared tea for us. We had everything for cooking with us. We stayed at Shimla for ten days. We took a guide. After taking breakfast, we used to set out on sight-seeing. We came back at 2 p.m. and took lunch. The servant was a good cook. The pure air and greenery of the hills made us fresh. We had heard that rainy days of Shimla are more enjoyable. Hence we took pleasure of showers when it rained one day or two. It made us feel sensations of deeper joy. We enjoyed getting drenched. We came back, changed our clothes and took coffee. Shimla attracts a number of tourists due to its natural beauty. The Mall Road of Shimla and Jhaku hills are always…

Morning exactly at 5 a.m. we reached Kushalnagar. The sky was quite dark; showing the clear sign of heavy rain. With no option to wait till Sun makes it appearance, we headed to a tea stall opposite to Bus stand; there we met a local guy Hasan who gave us good information about the transport facility and exact distance information of the area. As we ordered the tea rain drops started to touch the ground. After around 20 minutes of rain finally when it stopped I saw the first glimpse of gift of Mother Nature to this place. Soon the place was covered with a very thin layer of fog and I felt like home (my village in Uttarakand).…

At about 9A.M. in the morning my uncle came. I honoured him and requested him to sit in the drawing room. He was a very old man. He came to our house by foot. So he was tired. In the absence of my parents it was my duty to offer Tiffin and tea to my uncle. I went to the kitchen and searched for the biscuits. But I could not find it. I also tried to prepare a cup of tea for him. But there was no milk. I became nervous. I went to our neighbor and borrowed a little milk for only one cup of tea. I thought that I could prepare it. But unconsciously I added salt instead of sugar. When I offered it to my uncle, he gladly accepted it. But immediately he kept-the cup away only after one sips. I could not know the reason at first. I sensed my mistake well when he asked for sugar for the tea. I could not find the tin which contained sugar. So I again rushed to my neighbor for sugar.…

That morning I accompanied my father for a morning walk. I go regularly for his morning walk in the very early hours of the day. It is his habit. There is a very spacious District Park near our locality. It was early morning and yet there were many people in the park. But there were hardly any children. A pleasurable breeze was blowing. Some of the visitors were briskly walking. Some others were busy in taking exercise in groups or individually. Some others were strolling here feet on the dew-laden green lawn. The bird? Were chirping and pecking for worms and seeds in the ground. The golden sun lent a bright radiance to the tree-tops. It was all pleasant and beautiful. It was really a wonderful experience for me.…

We reached Darjeeling by Toy Train and lodged in a hotel for a week. From the first day we started going out for sight-seeing. I was greatly charmed by the scenic beauty of the mountain forests, tea-gardens and the sky-kissing peak of the snow-covered Kanchanjungha. We visited the attractive spots like the zoo, the Victoria Falls, the Lebong race-course, the highest race- cource in the world. We also saw the ropeway from the North Point to the Rangit Valley. One dawn, we visited the Tiger Hill from where we had a wonderful view of the sunrise. It was a rare experience to us. The Mall was another attractive spot where we walked about in the afternoon. I can never forget the charming beauty of Darjeeling.…

The most beautiful place to go hiking during the summer is Hanging Lake. The sun was so intense that I could feel its rays burning my face. I lifted my eyes and saw the path of rocks. Small and large rocks all together making a dangerous and exhausting journey. Situated between majestic mountains and a clear river on your right. Nature accompanied me the whole time, and trees became my best friends. I was the first to climb; behind me was Gethzemani I could see the concern on my sister’s face doubting about her ability to reach to the top.…

It was usual shiny day when we were about to leave our lyceum and get to the long road that was passing through the high and mighty mountains of ?Kyrgyz jeri?. And when we were on the way to Tamchi, a fertile garden village of wooden chocolate-box cottages and shady, poplar-lined avenues, my teacher said with his funny voice, ?Listen everybody! Now we are on the way to Issyk-Kul, and I want you not to sleep on first mission of our summer vacation because you could not realize the beauty of nature and compose an essay on your final exam.? And some of us really didn?t sleep after his funny advice, trying to get a real pleasure from staring at the grand mountains. But during the way the others of us were just listening the music, joking to each other and flying in their dreams. Finally, we reached the place where everyone changed their face and had a big smile, which showed that all of us were really pleased of seeing our magic lake. After some times later, we got into our nest! and then had first unforgettable dinner near the lake and under the thousands of blazing stars, which reminded us that we were in paradise. And it was indeed amazing?…
