How I Broke My Wrist
I thought I was going to play a friendly game of football until something bad happened to me. I broke my left wrist and it hurt really badly. I learned that breaking a bone is very painful and recommend that everyone avoid anything that could cause you to get hurt in serious way like breaking a bone. It all started on the weekend when my brother and I were really bored. We decided to go up to the athletic center near our house to play basketball. Since neither of us could drive, we had to walk up to the athletic center which was not far away maybe a ten or fifteen minute walk. We got up to the athletic center and saw a lot of people we know playing basketball. We said “Hi” to them and joined their game. We played a lot of games that day, having tournaments or just playing regular pick-up games for fun. Eventually some of us got bored of playing basketball and decided to play football but no one had a football, so we weren’t going to play. Then someone said he lived real close and could go get a football. My brother didn’t want to play football and recommended I didn’t play but I like football more than basketball so I told him I wanted to play. About fifteen minutes or so later, the kid came back with a football. We could finally play. Everyone who was playing basketball with us decided to play football so my brother decided to play too. There was a football field right in front of the basketball court at the athletic center, so we went there and picked teams, and start playing. I was doing pretty good and made a touchdown, some tackles, and an interception. When I caught the interception, I started running. I thought I was going to score but I got tackled. I thought I was fine until I looked at my wrist. It looked funny, and it started hurting like crazy. I got up from the ground holding my wrist and crying, so everybody ran to see why I was crying. They saw my

I have been playing basketball basically my whole life, it is has shaped me into the person I am today. I started with just a ball and a hoop in my cousins front yard. I would just chuck the ball at hoop for fun, horsing around with my cousins. In elementary and middle school I would play with my friends at recess shooting around, dribbling in circles for the fun of it. I was even better then most of the boys who would play with my group on the courts. When I entered high school that was when I realized I was truly in love with the game. High school was where it was taken to a whole 'nother level. I was introduced to the real dynamics of the sport, it was where I learned that if I really want to do something that I love I had to put my all into it. I had to prove that I was one-hundred percent committed to the game. Practicing everyday for two hours, and…

Since I was 7 years old, basketball has played an integral part of my life. I have devoted countless hours to not just a sport, but a passion, an outlet; to the game that I love. When I arrived at Bow Middle School as a fifth grader, my classmates and I would always look up to the 7th and 8th grade middle school basketball teams. Every year during winter carnival, the boys and girls teams would play a game in front of the entire school. Playing in that game became a dream and a goal of mine, but first I would need to make the team. For three years I developed my basketball skills, using my passion for the sport and desire to play in that game as motivation. When tryouts for basketball in 8th grade drew near, I knew I was ready. However a new coach would be at the helm this year. Our new basketball coach was also a coach for the youth football program. This resulted in numerous football…

Our favorite game to play was baseball since my brother had gotten a set of bases and a plastic bat and a whiffle ball for Christmas. We would set the bases up in my neighbor’s front lawn and if the ball made it all the way to my house’s driveway, it was a homerun. Sometimes even all the dads would come and join the game. Except all good things have to come to an end, right?…

Basketball is a game I started very recently. In fact, I was hardly interested in it. The complexity of the game always made me feel like I’d never enjoy being a part of it. However, the game took me by surprise. A lot of my close friends were part of the team and they were so passionate about it. Very recently, in the beginning of 12th grade, my friends coerced me to attend practice. Waking up early morning and running to the gym was literally the worst part of my day.…

As a young girl, I grew up being the only girl in a household of 3 other male siblings. As they would go out and play with their neighborhood friends, I would tag along and engage in as many activities that they would allow me to. These included football, basketball and many other contact sports. I was then the only girl on the field, or court, playing with the boys. Many times people had tried to encourage me to play with other little girls because they were afraid that I would get hurt playing with them. I insisted on sticking to what I knew. None of the rules that applied to those games were bended for the sake of me, and in fact, if they were, I probably wouldn’t have joined them in any others. I was confident, strong and I loved playing with them.…

One day my coach pulled me to the side and told me I was going to be the quarterback for the game. I thought I was going to die! I never played quarterback so I was very nervous about messing up. I instantly became sick and thought about leaving the game. My mom was on the sideline, so I went over to her and told her about me being afraid to throw the ball. My mom grabbed me by the shoulders and told me to fight my fear, and focus on being the best quarterback the team ever saw. I turned around, got in the game, they passed me the ball, and I threw the ball directly…
