There are two types of pleasure that we endure. The two are Kinetic and katastematic. The kind of pleasure we receive from kinetic is such as performing something just like eating or drinking. The food now makes us happier and satisfied for time being. Basically kinetic is some sort of activity that makes you feel happy. When your happy, you are more prone to live a exciting and progressive life. Katastematic gives us pleasure that feels like almost being totally isolated. What this means is you are receiving pleasure from not being distracted or bugged by others, makes you feel free. The absence of katastematic pleasure in the soul, is the highest good according to Epicures. The importance of kinetic and katastematic pleasures is that they occur in the body and soul.…

The Nicomachean Ethics, states that Happiness is virtuous activity that fulfills the human’s proper function which brings pleasure. . In “the sources of happiness” his holiness the Dalai Lama and Howard Cutler said “true happiness relates more to the mind and heart. Happiness that depends on mainly on physical pleasure is unstable, one day it’s there , the next day it may not” (30). Now as that clearly states, pleasure is something that can bring you temporary happiness but it only last for a certain time and it may not always be there, unlike happiness, once you reach that point in your life it will always be there, well that might not always be the case because you never know what the future is holding for us, but for now that feeling of joy you have is something alot wish to…

Although they could be the same, the chance that they are the same is somewhat slim. Like some people find pleasure in dancing and cheerleading, and they not only make themselves happy but some people find satisfaction in just watching them dance or cheer. One thing that gives me pleasure is watching the gymnastics part of the olympics, although it comes on every four years I still get so much happiness from watching others pursue their dreams at a worldwide event. Just like some people find pleasure and happiness when they watch their favorite sports team and get extremely aroused by the fact that they won. I just have to wait a little bit longer for my “Happiness.” I suppose if I were to say what my actual pleasure was, it would be music, singing and piano mainly. I’ve been singing and playing for quite a long time and everytime I do either one of them I feel so content inside. Like if I'm having a terrible day I’ll go and play a little song on the piano and just feel so much happiness inside. Even my desire to learn new songs are pleasurable because in the end I will end up knowing how to play a whole song on my own. It just amazes me how desires and pleasure can create someone's happiness and how Epicurus was right about that…

Happiness is a simple yet very complex term; if asked to define by individuals, many will have completely different definitions while some might be similar. Happiness is a feeling- a state of well-being, not an actual physical object. However, there are quite a few individuals that believe monetary possessions are what make you happy; therefor, the more they have- the happier they are. Since happiness is a state of being- a feeling; it cannot be measured, profited or traded, there are three aspects of life that if happiness exists in all three sections, the actual state/feeling of happiness may be achieved. The statuses of these three sections are what makes up human life and can account for most of individual’s…
