How To Write An Observation In Preschool
This observation was made in the preschool class at Lincoln Circle Head Start Center. The lead teacher was Cecelia Pace. My observations began on February 22, 2016 the attendance total was 15 children.
Children came to class at 8:00 in the morning. Cecelia welcomed the children and parents. Both parents and children signed at the entry, and then children chose a free play and Cecelia joined them. Cecelia asked questions such as: “How does rain get up in the clouds?” “Where does the rain go?” “What does it look like?” “What does it taste like?” “Why is it cold in winter?”
Around eight forty five, the teacher walked around the classroom and told the children “You have five minutes to play, then we are going to clean up” After five minutes the clean-up music sounded.
After breakfast, I observed that the teacher started with the daily …show more content…
Then she asked children “what happened when they left the house”? Kids raised their hands to answer. I observed that Cecelia always called each of the children by name and with great respect. In my observation, I noticed that the teacher was always alert to any situation among children. At the moment of my observation, I found that it was amazing on how so many children remained in these activities without being interrupted since the centers had enough material accessible.
During my observation I realized as the teacher put much interest when a boy was talking, she looked into his eyes and responded to his comment with questions and answers in order to engage him in the conversation. This made the child feel that what he was saying was interesting.
I learned that it is necessary to pay attention to the children’s interest, activities needs, and concerns in order for them to be successfully. Based on my observations on teacher Cecelia’s classroom, I learned that teacher interactions during play are beneficial to extend children’s knowledge and
