Chimpanzees are an endangered animal. People are illegally catching chimpanzees and keeping them as pets. Their habitat is being destroyed by humans. People are killing them for their meat. Some people are trying to stop other people from harming chimpanzees. Scientist list them as endangered and treats them as priority species. They also made it illegal to hunt them.
Chimpanzee’s scientific name is Pan Troglodytes. The population is 150,000 -250,000. Although they are our closest living relatives, they are 6-7 times stronger than humans. Chimpanzees do not have a tail, nor can they swim. Some people think that they are monkeys, but they are apes. Something interesting about chimpanzees is that they went to space before humans, and they can also learn sign language. Although chimpanzees are friendly, they can also harm people.
