How To Write A Short Story Suspense
In suspenseful stories there are several twists, turns, and surprises. Often to catch a reader's attention. “August Heat” by W.F. Harvey creates suspense in many ways throughout his entire short story. He leaves people wanting more and to continue reading it. As well as leaving a bit of a mystery. Although mystery and suspense is different in suspenseful story the protagonist gradually becomes aware of the dangers, which the readers already know. Meanwhile in a mystery, a major event such as a murder or robbery happens at first and then the protagonist solves it, and a major event occurs at the end, and various events unfold prior to that event. Harvey begins with a date, making readers feel as if it’s only a date that doesn’t matter too much, yet the truth is revealed towards the end of the story. The second important part to the story is that he mentions the name of the protagonist, which is who the readers should mainly focus on. The profession that the protagonist had is being an artist, I believe that all the details and information that is being given by the author is important because it’s helping us to get to know the main character.
