How To Write A Persuasive Speech On Refugee Children
Refugee children should not be kept in Detention Centres. Did you know girls and boys our age are being kept in shipping containers, isolated and away from their extended family, friends with slim hope for a better future. Children shouldn’t be kept in jail like conditions and by the end of my speech I am sure you will agree with me. Unfortunately, this currently happens to about 550 children in who are sadly stuck on Nauru in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean. I know none of you would like to live like this. Children should be allowed to have an education, shelter and food each day and not be locked up in a prison cell. Now if you have access to all these thing then put your hand up. Around the middle of February this year baby Asha was badly burnt by boiling water and was rushed off to Lady Cilento Hospital, here in Brisbane. After being in hospital for treatment it was time for the doctors to send her back to terrifying Nauru. But the doctor and nurses after hearing about the inhumane conditions were Asha lived they refused to sign baby Asha out. Many protesters including some All Hallows girls from the Human Rights Mercy Action Group joined the protest. They were joining with thousands of other voices in demanding the baby Asha should be moved to a community detention rather than retuning to Nauru. After the successful protest by the hard working and dedicated medical staff and protesters, Baby Asha and her relative were moved into the community. The government however has regrettably threatened to send this child back to Nauru in the future. It is up to us to make sure this does not happen. I ask you to close your eyes and imagine you’re a refugee child locked up in what seems to be a prison with no idea what is going on.     Asylum seekers have been escaping their hostile countries for decades now, but where are they fleeing to? Not to Australia.     There have been numerous legal responses to asylum seekers in Australia, all of which have been ineffective in achieving fair outcomes for both Australian citizens and refugees seeking asylum in Australia.     With the ever increasing number of refugees entering our country, many Australians are struggling to sustain what they once had. Many Australians were already struggling before the arrival of the refugees, and are only suffering more.
