How To Write A Jazz Concert Review Essay
Before going to the jazz showcase I only had three previous experiences with live music and for the most part those experiences were not acoustic sessions but had more synthetic instruments. Due to this I was excited to go to this performance because it would be something that I had never experienced before. I had a pretty good idea of what the experience would be like since we talked about it in class and also because I have listened to jazz music in the past. Despite this there were still a few things that surprised me and made the experience an exciting one.
One of the main things that I was excited to see was the actual club itself. Although I had been to a blues club previously I still had no idea what the showcase would look like. Although I can't remember the specifics since I'm writing this a few days after the showcase, I vividly remember the funky rhythm that started this song and played throughout it. When the song started, the standup bass caught my attention right away and for some reason made me very excited. Then the guitar started playing a funky rhythm that was slightly muted and they melded together so well. I had never heard a jazz song like that before and it really caught me off guard in a good way. Although I can't remember the rest of the song well, this part just really stood out from the rest of the night.
My second favorite song of the night was “I'm Old Fashioned”. The thing that I remember most about this song is that there was a really slow pace to the song that started and ended in a relaxed way. It might be because I am a guitar player myself but I really liked the guitar part at the beginning of the song. Overall I enjoyed the slow place of this song compared to the
