How to Save the Environment
How To Save The Environment
Throughout the evolution of the Homo sapien we have used the land to fulfill our needs. During this millennia the Homo sapien has increased its mistreatment of the environment by continually polluting or destroying the land, causing the genocide of many animals. The environment cannot be saved when people don't change. You cannot just be a vegetarian and think you are protecting the animals. You cannot just shoot deer for population control. You cannot farm every bit of land.

To save the environment we have to go primal. We have to reinforce the food chain. When pioneers started shooting everything, the balance between predator and prey was ruined . We should, for example, reintroduce the natural predators of deer, the wolf, instead of shooting deer ourselves.

We need to stabilize the earth's hunger situation by farming for the global populace instead of for each individual country. We also must farm land good for farming instead of destroying forests to produce food for a few years and ruin the land forever.

We must ration the global produce instead of overindulging or starving others. We must stop countries half the size of the U.S. from having ten to fifteen times the population.

We must stabilize and minimize the human populace and reshape without polluting the present environmental conditions to save the world. ^
________________________________________________________________________ FIVE WAYS TO SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT
We can all make a difference when it comes to helping save the environment. Global warming and all the other environmental issues we are facing took some time to build up and to get our of these messes it is going take a lot of work, but this doesn’t mean we should get discouraged because it’s more than the big things that are going to make the difference, it’s the little things that make the biggest impact.
Here are some simple changes you can make in your everyday life to help the planet recover from the wounds we have inflicted upon it:
1: Walk sometimes. You don’t need to take your car everywhere you go. If your job is in walking distance, or you’re able to ride a bike to get there, then do it. Not only are you helping to save the planet, you’re exercising and helping yourself stay fit. Most big cities that have the worst traffic jams also have bike paths and walking trails for pedestrians. You’d be surprised how much more convenient they were for you.
2: Pick it up! People litter, that’s just the way it is. You’ll see plastic bottles, cigarette packs, etc, all lying on the ground. It wouldn’t hurt or inconvenience you at all to pick them up as you walk by. If you see a plastic bag blowing by you, grab it and put it in the nearest trashcan. Most places have recycling bins set up all over. Sure, it’s not your fault that some people just don’t care. But you do! Show you care by being good to your Mother Earth.
3: Use less energy in your home. Whether you work from home or just like to lounge around and watch TV, there are all sorts of ways you can conserve energy in your home and do your part to help the world. If you’re on the computer, you don’t need any lights on. The monitor provides enough light. And if not, open the shades to let the sun in.
4: Use recycled paper. There's no need to use virgin paper for things like computer printing, envelopes, paper towels, toilet paper or tissues; the best part is that it's all... [continues]

Ways to Save the Environment The Environment really is in your hands!
At The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Australia, we are huge environment lovers. I know that most people freak out. “Saving the environment,” you may be saying to yourself as you read this, “but I’m only one person! How am I supposed to save the world when I have school/work/my Duke of Ed/every other activity under the sun to do? It’s too hard.”
Well, that’s where you are wrong! Here at The Duke of Ed, we all do little things that we incorporate into our lifestyles to do our bit and change our office aura to a bright (environmentally friendly) green!
1. Recycle.
In 2009, 99% of households engaged in some form of re-use or recycling. You can do it simply, such as separating your recyclables from your normal rubbish, or if you enjoy a challenge, you can even start your own compost heap.
Did you know that if you recycle one aluminium can you can run your television for three hours? For more information on how to get recycling (you can even win awards), visithttp://www.recycleaustralia.org/. 2. Less Paper = More Trees.
Did you know that worldwide paper consumption has risen by 400% in the past 40 years with 35% of harvested trees being used for paper? Woodchipping to produce paper pulp is a huge environmental issue in Australia. How can we help this?
Back in the days when my artistic skills were more of a scribble, I remember being told to use both sides of the paper. Why? So I could halve the paper and do double the drawing! Another way to get saving is in your printing. Be sure to print double sided at home, school or at work to use less paper. Think before you print!
3. Don’t Let it Run.
Australia is the Earth’s driest inhabited continent and has had a number of chronic water shortages as a result of drought. Other than stopping the old fashioned “sprinkler run” in the middle of Summer, here are some everyday ways to save water: 1. Turn off the water when brushing your teeth and you will save up to 18 litres of water per day. 2. Take a shorter shower for a simple way of saving water. Every two minutes you save on your shower, you can also save more than 37 litres of water!
4. Switch it Off.
Conserve energy (and save on your electricity bill) by turning off your appliances! Turn off your computer at night and save up to 40 watts of electricity per day. Likewise, turn off your lights when your leave a room. Experts say that electricity production has increased gas concentrations in the atmosphere. This occurs faster than natural processes can remove them, leading to global warming and climate change.
5. Wash, Spin, Dry.
Household tasks like washing and drying our clothes effect the environment. Wash in cold or warm water instead of on the hot cycle. It’s proven that if all houses in the USA were to switch to the cold-warm cycle, it could save the energy comparable to 100,000 barrels of oil a day! Only washing clothes when you have a full load is a great way to conserve energy and water.
Finally, hang drying is the most energy efficient way to dry your washing. Use a clothesline or a clothes rack to dry your clothes using air and sunlight. Not only will it benefit the environment, but also your wardrobe – your clothes will maintain colour and fit and will last longer too!
If every household in Australia recycled and used less paper, water and electricity, there would be a huge difference in our own Australian environment as well as globally.

Have you ever thought about how much food the world wastes and how this increases world hunger? It has been proven that of all the food produced for human consumption, over one-third of it is lost during a year and over the 35% of that would feed all the people who lack food in the world (Gunders). The planet is experiencing times of great frustration with this. While the birthrate increases approximately one percent every year, the food just does not get to all the people (Gunders). World hunger is an ancient problem in the world, in which Asia and Africa have been experiencing increasing alarming rates of starvation that demands a solution. World hunger is not due to a lack of food, but rather a disproportionate population distribution and an inadequate mismanagement of supplies.…

There is one Earth. All people who live on it have to share it, not only with those living today, but with those in centuries to come. What is done today will manifest itself tomorrow, affecting someone, somewhere. Many don’t think about their actions because what they do might not affect them in their own lifetime. As Pope Francis said, “We received this world as an inheritance from past generations, but also as a loan from future generations, to whom we will have to return it!” It is easy to harm the environment because many are ignorant of the consequences of their actions, which have become very routine. Changes in the individual mindset can put into motion a chain reaction. One person can influence many others, and one small change can make a big difference. There have been many figures throughout history that have been great examples of how important it is to respond to the call the Pope has made for environmental action and protection. Some influential activists have been Julia Hill and Wangari Maathai, both being very inspiring through their actions. People should heed…

We always hear that people would like to end world hunger or be able to feed the world and at least help alleviate the suffering associated with said world hunger problems. Unfortunately alleviation of hunger in the long run is a long way from being achieved 100% because hunger is another problem caused by poverty so if efforts are only directed at providing food or improving food production or distribution the structural root causes that create hunger, poverty and dependency will always remain.…

While reading chapter 7 of State of the World I was very interested in the changing course because it made me think about the things that our world can do that can drastically benefit the future of our agricultural production and food prospect. We must be able to solve the two major food issues currently facing our world, which are malnutrition and price stability. All governments need to establish a population policy so that their country does not exceed the limitations of its carrying capacity. It is important that we can produce enough food for our country, which is estimated to increase by 74 million in the next fifty years.…

Our earth is in great jeopardy; humanity has to start thinking about their future. Indeed, the earth’s population is growing at a fast rate and it is coherent that the more we are on the planet, the more resources, like water and food, are needed. Now, we have two ways of dealing with this issue. Either we improve the management of our resources, so in other words, try to work on a worldwide scale in order to have an effect; or we could try slowing down the population growth rate so that we do not run out of resources. We will focus on the second solution, and analyze in detail how we could reach this goal. Even thought it seems easy, several methods may imply a change of lifestyle or traditions that have an impact on the efficiency of it.…

I think that we also need change in our farming legislation. We currently have so many subsidies on corn and the like (ironic I dislike, I know, considering I'm from Iowa!) that it becomes cheaper to use it not only for sweeteners that are bad for us (like high fructose corn syrup), but it also makes us want to give food aid from our own country instead of helping other countries create their own sustainable agriculture.…

Humans are destructive. Not a lot of us think about how what we do affects the world around us. We almost act like we are the only ones on this planet. We go around polluting and destroying our world with no regard for our actions. The things that live out in the wild are paying the price for it. Every day that passes there is another animal or plant that is placed on an endangered list. This is happening at an alarming rate. Because of man’s desire to expand and conquer their surroundings, there are animals and plants that are on the brink of extinction that will not be around for our kids and future generations to enjoy if something is not done about it now. This problem has been going on for hundreds of years. There are animals and plants that can only been seen in paintings or early photography. It is because of our early ancestors that we have this problem today and we have to do more to prevent more animals and plants from disappearing forever.…

The planet earth for millennia have offered mankind natural resources for its use. However, with the growth of the human population, resources have been used at a speed that is faster than it would take for it to be replaced. Such consumption has lead to many dangerous environmental effects. Problems like oil spills, loss of rain forests and acid rain are just some of the effects of such misuse of the earths natural resources. But, to bring about significant change to clean up oil spills, or to avoid the cutting down of rain forests which leads to acid rain are complex, that intervention from governments and large companies is needed at the very least.…
