how to make a glue out of flour
During their childhood, kids use a large amount of glue. Most of them are chemical mixtures with no ingredients listed on the packaging. You can only imagine what’s in there.
Preschoolers love pasting and collage, as well as tasting anything that comes close to their mouths. Besides the awful taste, shop bought glue might not be the perfect substance for their tummies. School kids have (hopefully) learned not to lick the glue, but having it on their skin and, occasionally, all over them, isn’t good either as we know that our skin absorbs anything that’s put on it. Try this old trick to prove it: rub a clove of garlic onto the soles of your feet and after a while you’ll feel the garlicky taste in your mouth!
Whether you would like to avoid a chance of your kids digesting chemical glues, make your house greener and as chemical free as possible or just want to avoid buying stuff and reducing wasteful packaging, the recipe above is a sure winner. There are many natural glue recipes around, but this one is the simplest to make with only 4 ingredients you most probably have on hand. I’ve tried it and it works, not only for paper, but also for gluing chunks of wood.
The most basic homemade recipe, which you may already be familiar with, is just made of flour and water. It tends to dry out over time and stop holding together whatever it was holding together, but it’s fine for, say, making decorations a few hours before a party.
Blend flour with water until it’s near the consistency of pancake batter.
Beat your mixture until it’s smooth.
Pour it into a saucepan on medium heat.
Constantly stir while bringing it slowly to a boil.
Let it cool before

Chemical reaction,is the process by which one or more substances are converted into one or more different substances.Old bonds break and new bonds form. The original substances are called reactants. The resulting substances are called products. It is a simple chemical reaction. Another simple reaction might involve a reactant molecule breaking apart. Many enduring substances such as rock and water are highly stable. One molecule of methane and two molecules of oxygen yield one molecule of carbon dioxide. Chemists summarize chemical reactions using formulas called chemical equations. Chemical equations generally show the product formed when the…

Does anyone know which children’s toy also helps doctors in physical therapy? Play dough is actually great for physical therapy! Play dough does not only stimulate a child’s creativity. It also improves their eye/hand coordination, and fine motor skills. According to Encyclopedia of Children’s Heath, fine motor skills generally refers to the small movements of the hands, wrists, fingers, feet, toes, lips, and tongue. This makes it the perfect product to use in physical therapy to rebuild the muscles in the hand, wrist and fingers. Did you know that this product was first manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio as wallpaper cleaner in the 1930s? This putty-like wallpaper cleaner was concocted by Noah McVicker for Kutol Products, a family-owned Cincinnati-based soap company. Only after World War II McVicker’s nephew Joseph McVicker, joined Kutol and discovered the wallpaper cleaner was being used by nursery school children to make Christmas ornaments. The product was then reworked and marketed to Cincinnati schools in the mid-1950s. Play-Doh was demonstrated at an educational convention in 1956 and major department stores opened retail accounts to sale the product. Advertisements promoting Play-Doh on children’s television shows in 1957 furthered the product’s sales. In 2003, the Toy Industry Association added Play-Doh to its “Century of Toys List”. Today I’m going to show you how to make play dough.…

H.B. Fuller’s moral obligations in this case are to do everything they can to prevent illegal distribution and use of their products. Being the leading manufacturer of industrial glues worldwide, it is impossible for the company to get rid of products that kids are misusing. Yes, the company can take steps to stop it, which they are by not selling it to retailors and small business owners in Honduras and Guatemala where the biggest abuse problem is. However, this company cannot be morally responsible for every single person who chooses to use their product in the wrong way. Like the mission statement says, they will conduct business ethically...be a responsible corporate citizen. These are their moral obligations and they are met by their actions to save the environment, and giving five percent of profits to charity. H.B. Fuller is in no way marketing their products directly to children, and why should they have to change ingredients and stop selling their products to certain areas just because some people have issues. We know that Central America makes up for 27% of H.B. Fuller sales, which is a big portion and will hurt the business if they pull products in many countries. They are also morally obligated to their clients who actually do use their glue for the right purposes. If their best product is no longer sold, construction and manufacturing in these countries might also take a hit because they will not be able to use the products that they need to get the job done.…

I went into this project wanting to know the answers to these questions. So I did this by gathering four "childproof" containers and cleaning them thoroughly and sanitizing them . I gathered a cough medicine botle, prescription pill bottle, a toilet bowl cleaner bottle, a over the counter pill bottle, a cleaning supplies spray bottle, disposable gloves, test subjects, stop watch, masking tape, a permenant marker, a lab notebook, and graphing paper. With all this I tested a good amount of toddlers around the age 5-6 to see if they could get the childproof tops off the containers. I gave each subject a minute to open each container and if they couldnt get it open I showed them how to open it without any verbal contact and giving them another minute and a second try to open it. After testing all of the subjects I saw that many struggled trying to open the toilet bowl cleaner bottle and the aspirin container. Children that age, know that a way to get the top off a container is to twist. Many of my subjects didn't get the top off the toilet bowl cleaner nor the aspirin pill bottle. These…

The age, needs and abilities of children impact significantly on what is safe or unsafe for them to come into contact with. For instance an eight month old baby will be expected to pick up objects within their reach and put them to their mouth so when planning a safe environment for them it will be important to keep small objects that present a choking hazard out of their reach. It is with this in mind that most practitioners will choose toys and materials safely.…
