What I Have Done and Will Do to Make the World a Better Place Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! During the 21st century, in the United States there are many good ways the youth can help make the world a better place. Trying to help make the world a better place is very important because one needs the world to live on. One needs to be resourceful with natural resources. I have recycled, picked up trash, participated in community events, and fundraised for important organizations and sports. I will do everything I already do more often, enforce the no bullying policy, plant trees, reduce the amount of electricity I use, and take shorter showers to make the world a better place. In the past, I have done many activities to help make the world a better place because the world needs to be saved for future generations. I have recycled papers, cans, plastics, and old clothes. I also have walked around my neighborhood and picked up litter on the streets and in the parks. I enjoyed participating in community events such as helping the homeless shelter, animal shelter, and my church. For many years I have helped fundraise from important organizations like Walking For Cancer, Destination Imagination, D.A.R.E., and my volleyball team. I have done many things to help make the world a better place, but I could certainly do more. I plan on completing many more activities to make the world a better place by reducing bullying, planting trees, reducing the amount of electricity I use, and taking shorter showers. Bullying makes children live in fear every day of going to school. A simple smile showing kindness will start a chain reaction. Planting trees is important because trees are being cut down everyday for paper and other materials. People need to recycle the paper that we use because trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Reducing the amount of electricity I use is very helpful to the world because it will cost

Personally, I have been involved in my community since I was in the Boy Scouts of America. As I acsended through to the top rank of Boy Scouts known as an Eagle Scout, many projects were conducted. For example, I have planned and conducted my own Eagle Scout project in 2009; this project consisted of building a roof for my local firehouse. Other community service includes roadside clean-ups, annual earth day events, and fellow Eagle Scout projects. Since my community college career, I have been well involved with our campus and community. Particularly in Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society of all community colleges, where I have become the President of our chapter. Within the society, the objectives include a honor's in action project…

Since middle school, I have been involved in numerous local beach and river cleanup events. In Nature Academy I was able to design my own community service project. During 7th grade, I banded together with a few fellow classmates and we decided to clean up the streets of Felton one staple at a time. The state of the poles there were horrible; covered in the metal pieces from prior flyers posted there. After several weeks and hours, we had defeated the evil staples. In 8th grade, I had done some more community service on a smaller scale. By helping out in the community garden at school, I had helped the crops grow, that were then disbursed to families in need of fresh…

When I started out I really wanted to volunteer at the local school but unfortunately that did not plan out. I always think that everything happens for a reason and working a feed my starving children really made me feel like i was making a difference even when I was doing the small jobs. Feed my starving children is a nonprofit faith based organization that is devoted to feeding the hungry in different countries all around the world. Over the stations they have the names of the places that the food goes to. I did two 5 hour shifts just because it was something I actually had fun with and felt like I could keep going. Something I found really interesting when talking to the workers there was that when they drop the food off they have to be…

Finally, when I moved to New Orleans I started volunteer work at the Children’s Hospital and helped with pop up clinics for the Latino community twice. Overall I found that helping others shouldn't be something seen as duty or mandatory, it should be spontaneous. Through others experiences and hardships we learn and grow as human beings, not only did I enjoy helping others but I felt that it helped me with my problems. Having moved around so much and meet so many people and living by myself so many years I came to truly be thankful for my blessings and specially for my hardships. Hermann Hesse once said, "I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value." Helping others made me realize that we all need help and that my way to help others would be through their health. It also taught me not to judge anybody, especially if you don't know what they have been through. I am hard believer that everything happens for a reason, and all the weekends I spend watching my parents help others helping others myself made me the determined person that I am today. Finally, the most important lesson I learned was to never give up, no matter how hard the task is or how bad the problem is there will always be someone willing to help and you can always be both sides to that, the helper or the one who needs…

Growing up, I have always known that I wanted to do more for the world. I wanted to help people that were hurt, disabled, or disadvantaged. I’ve always thought the world could be better if we stood up for one another and make each other’s days. My parents taught me while growing up that giving back is always more important than all the material things I could receive. I became a member of a girl scouts pack near my house and we always assembled fundraisers and donated what we made to local charities. When I decided I didn’t want to undertake the responsibilities of a girl scout, my dad introduced me to Special Olympics.…
