It contains resin tinted blue to resemble water, with concrete to resemble the sand at the bottom of an ocean terrain. This is because it created a very fluid effect, that resembles the shiny surface of water. The slight blue also created an effect that was similar to the color of water. The resin also allowed the texture and detail of the concrete to show through as well. Another creative idea was to use a x-system structure to hold up the tabletop. Since it was concrete and resin, which are both very hard materials when cured, it seems it would be impossible to attach to a base with it being sturdy and still working well as a table. This way of putting something up with a table structure in my opinion was very creative, although I think there could have been a better, more aesthetic, and creative way to attach the table top to the base. It seemed very unique. I also enjoy creating projects with a variety of things, so learning about ways to use resin or concrete seemed interesting. I think that Bob’s project was pretty good, but there were some things that could have been better considering this was supposed to be a very sophisticated design project. The tabletop turned out good, but the table as a whole was a bit rough. For example, as the table top was supposed to be the main spotlight, the center of the project, it was not enhanced by the rest of the table, but the focus and charm of the tabletop was taken away from the frame of the table. I think the project could have been improved by using a lighter wood to imitate the boardwalks of the beach, as well as allow for the piece to be tied together, instead of the darker colored stained that in a way was dark that it held no contrast against the water. I think that the corners of the table top would have looked better if it had stayed, because taking them away takes away from the overall “vast ocean” simplistic design of the table. Instead, I think adding a lighter wood with a frame that was mainly underneath the tabletop, to create a floating effect may have looked better. I think that there could have been more research put into how to attach the pieces together, whether it be putting a piece of wood underneath the concrete to stick to, so that the pieces would
