According to Ripley, students are starting school too early to save afternoon daytime for practice.Students will be tired after school because they have to wake up really early in the morning and then go to school. After that they have to do practice for sports. Then they have to go home and do homework. Students won’t have any time to spend time with their family like their sisters or brothers (10). Students will spend more time with their families if kids have sports on the weekends and not after school (10). If there were no after school sports, students will be able to spend time with their family. This is important because this shows that kids will spend time with their siblings instead of being really tired after school. Now that you know this will be important for students to quit after school because they will have little to no time to play or hang out with their

According to “The Value of Sports,” athletes are able to set better long time goals and strive for them, vs non-athletes, (2). Athletes who play sports are more focused in school, they are more motivated, and they learn skills that may improve their life in the future. There is a rule called No Pass No Play, which means if you don’t pass a class in school, you can’t play a sport (No Pass, no play law affects many students throughout Texas) (1). This rule is effective in states like Texas. Americans should be for students without passing grades being able to play sports, because students in clubs are not affected, and the youth of America needs the teachings and values that sports are able to bring. Athletes in school tend to do better in school…

Why should the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) keep funding for sports program? Well what would schools be without the normal sports teams and jocks running around? In my opinion it would just be abnormal, competitive sports are a tradition in school that all children should have the choice to experience. I believe OUSD should continue funding for sports programs. Not only because they are a tradition; but because the also improves health, teaches teamwork, and improves academic performances.…

Although research shows that teens experience changes in their internal sleep clocks that make it more difficult to wake up and go to bed early, starting school later in the day will not be a solution to this problem. Starting and ending school later will only take opportunities away from students. Starting school later may allow students more time to rest, but it does not allow them much time after school to have an opportunity to participate in sporting events, clubs, or have a job. For example, if school didn't let out until late in the afternoon, teens would not be able to have a job because it would be too late for them to go to work. Also, school ending later leaves less time for student athletes to participate in sports. To many…

There are some questions that are something like, won’t kids grades suffer with less time to do homework? And the answer to that recently asked question is no, no they won't. As we have said before There is a study that has shown that kids do better with grades when they play more sports! Probably because you have to keep your grades up to be able to play that sport and that is incentive enough. If there were more sports in our school then more kids will do better with grades, they don’t even have to be good. They just have to have fun playing the game, and that is why we should increase sports at our school. There are many more questions that parents and kids have been concerned about when it comes to sports. ( sports: how much is too…

Why would you even think about getting rid of sports? Sports are the best thing about high school. You have football which is the best, you have basketball which is pretty good. Do you know the feeling when you get good grades or win a game for your team? It gives you confidence and makes you feel proud that you’ve accomplished something. But with the later starting times you might have a struggle between grades and sports. With the later starting times it might be an obstacle to get to sports events or making it to any after school activity when you might have a school class at that time. Or the school sports will be releasing athletes later from practice because of the time taken off by starting school and dismissing students from school later. In my opinion I think that students shouldn't start later because of traffic with transportation and after school activities interfering.…

Most schools are oblivious to their expenses. And in this day and age, the costs are rising. In paragraph five, Paul Sullivan of The New York Times emphasizes in The Rising Cost of Youth Sports, “Spending on sports has grown so high-up to 10.5 percent of gross income-that it is hurting family harmony.” The evidence shows how budgets have forced districts and parents to reconsider one of time's most beloved activities. Which is one hundred percent a good thing. The rising in costs take away from other activities. Schools also misuse fundings on sports. Overpaying for the best field, up to date equipment, and overpaid trainers is a huge waste of money. Superintendent Rob Van Maren from the Chieftain announced at a board meeting that the cost of new bleachers would be around $380,000. Over a third of a million dollars used for cold metal seats? That type of money could go elsewhere. TheU.S Census Bureau stated, “ Fifty seven percent of students participate in at least one after school extracurricular activity,” They also said that more than half of those students is doing a sport. What about clubs? The evidence points to how little students are involved in a club. Instead of spending all their cash on sports, use it to benefit activities such as drama, or chess club. Not everything needs to be about sports. The price tag that comes with a sport is a big one, which is why schools need to kick athletics…

If you were to get out of school for 4 pm and then have to go to a sports practice you probably wouldn't be getting home until around 6 pm. Also, it wouldn't just be inconvenient for the kids who do sports, it would also be an inconvenience for older kids who have to work after school, especially if they work later shifts that would cause them to get home late and not have as much time for homework or studying. But, let's say these kids got off of school earlier, they would have much more time before or after sports and work to get homework done, which is good because kids shouldn't stress about having time to get schoolwork done. Finally, it's less convenient for parents. If school starts early, parents could…

An issue that is hotly debated in Mrs. Crowell’s class is if kids should be able to play competitive sports or not. I strongly believe that kids should not be able to participate in competitive sports for three main reasons: sports can get costly, injuries are common, and the kid is pushed way too hard by parents and coaches.…

Some may argue that sports play an important role in teaching life lessons to athletes. Yes, you can learn valuable things through sports, but you can take on even better traits through school and teamwork activities in the classroom without the problems that athletics comes with, like injuries and pressure. School comes before athletics and some athletes think athletics are more important than school, so eliminating sports will help these students learn valuable life lessons through school and activities in the classroom with other students.…

Activities and sports in schools is a great way for students to be involved, and to be active. I have done research and there hasn’t been one article I found on why sports shouldn’t be in schools. Having athletic programs and activities in schools are very helpful for students health, it develops team work, helps develop discipline and also perfection. School administrators, and parents, generally support high school activity programs because of the positive effect these activities appear to have on students of both genders. (Braddock P.1)…
