How to Catch a Fish
How to Catch a Fish
By: P. H. Do you enjoy fishing? Would you like to learn some tips about fishing in a freshwater lake or pond? I live in The Woodlands and I like to fish in lakes and ponds by my house. Fishing is a great sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. My Grandpa taught me a lot about fishing and I would like to share some of that information with you. The materials I prefer can be found at most sporting goods stores. My favorite fishing pole is a six-foot All-star graphite classic pole. The reel I use is an Abumatic bearing drive closed face reel made by Abu Garcia. Also I recommend Trilene 12 LB fishing line by Berkley. My two favorite baits are a Ratalin Repala black and red lure and a night crawler worm on an eagle claw hook.
Lakes and ponds have the best freshwater fishing. Some lakes’ and ponds’ rules are catch and release and some are catch and keep. The different types of fish I have caught in The Woodlands are bass, catfish, crappie, blue gill and perch. You can fish off the side of a lake or pond and in some lakes you can go fishing on a boat. Be sure to watch out for turtles that could snap your line and snakes like the cottonmouth that is venomous; as both of them are in almost every single pond in The Woodlands. After you have prepared your pole and selected your lure or bait, then you are ready to go. Make sure your hook is securely tied to the fishing string. Next, cast your bait into the pond or lake. Give it a few seconds to settle, and then gently start to reel in the bait in order to give the fish the impression that it is alive. Once you feel the fish take the bait, quickly jerk the pole back to set the hook. Then reel in the fish in keeping the line tight. The Woodlands is a great place to live if you like to fish. The Woodlands has plenty of stocked lakes and ponds with high quality species of fish. The best time to fish is in the morning. You have to be very patient in this sport because

This is why I feel most comfortable at Ruth lake I get to see my friends on the lake and meet up with them at their cabins sometimes. Also I go to my friends cabin’s with them for the weekend in the summer. We then usually go tubing and then jump into the shining clear water of the lake. My favorite time of the season to go to Ruth lake is in the summer when the water is warm and the sun is out. I also like the lake because you can fishing, which is fun for me. In “ The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant” the author, W.D Wetherell, states “ When I wasn't swimming laps to impress Sheila, I was back in our driveway practicing casts, and when I wasn't practicing casts, I was trying to line the Tosca, our springer spaniel, to test the reel’s drag, and when I wasn't doing any of those things, I was fishing the river for bass” (Wetherell 43). The fly rod is used by pulling line out of the spool and feathering a tiny bit out as you swing the rod back and forth until you have it at the distance you want it. Expect to see other wildlife, including eagles, ospreys, alligators and maybe even deer or wild turkeys. If you'd like to make your entire outdoor experience even better, look to some of the many Florida campgrounds nearby.…
