It takes less time to proofread a written document ans also you do not need to open a dictionary to look for meanings of words. It is also used in military too, which is a complete change for air force etc. However, there are also some disadvantages of technology. Constantly using internet shrinks your capacity to think. The easy access to information has made students lazy in terms of their education since they are able to find and download information without researching. They also use computers for mathematical tables and calculations without actually solving the problems. When I look at the wired world I am living in, I am wondering how people used to live at the time when computers and the Internet were not invented. Now I see that computers are used in every aspect of life. They make our lives easier, but also makes us lazier than we used to be. I can reach anything via the Internet without going out of my home, but it makes me stay away from the social world. For instance, my mom recently started calling me on the phone to tell me something from the other room in the same house. Then I started doing to same thing to her, either calling or texting or IM

For it to be a truly effective communication vehicle, all parties bear a responsibility to be genuine, accurate, and not allow it to replace human contact” (Tardanico). This quote shows that social media has the potential to do good, but because individuals are constantly urged to market themselves to a world full of strangers via the Internet and its numerous social networking sites, they instinctively create a personal image that is seen as consistent and memorable. “Awash in technology, anyone can hide behind the text, the e-mail, the Facebook post or the tweet, projecting any image they want and creating an illusion of their choosing”(Tardanico). More and more people in today’s society have no problem disclosing intimate details to strangers. Some even create false images of themselves to appeal to others as trustworthy and intelligent. Rosen brings up the idea of “personal branding,” in which individuals present the best version of themselves in order to establish and maintain emotional connections with strangers.…

The internet has provided infinite ways we can connect with others and share what is on our minds. How often, though, do we stop and think of the consequences that our actions online could bring? Many people have adopted the concept of “click first, think later”. Youth today rely heavily on their online presence to create their identity. While the advantage of social media is found in the very name: social; the disadvantage is the substitute of the online presence for deep abiding relationships that grow through conversation, common experiences, and at some times, suffering.…

Moreover, I have created a virtual life for myself through countless social networking sites, where I am able to share moments with my friends. In a world dominated by social media, it is so easy to assume we know someone based on the pages they like on Tumblr, or perhaps the amount of friends they have on Facebook. When we present ourselves to the online world, it can create this dangerous collection of meaningless data about ourselves, rarely giving meaningful context to who we are. Although the world seems more connected than ever through this technological revolution, we couldn’t be more ill-informed and disconnected from who each other is than ever. Who we are as opposed to who we are online is completely idealistic, causing a rift between those who genuinely know us and those who think they…

Moving forward each author begins to talk about what identity is on the internet. The article is based upon the different views on how each author views identity on the internet through the instant messaging system.…

Many comment that identity production through digital communities is a vivid representation of identity production in the real world hence equipping one with the skills needed for networking in the real world. On the other hand, others criticize that identity production in the virtual world is not a true representation of social networking in the real world because of the inherent differences between the real world and the online world hence this will hinder the crafting of an accurate identity in the online world. However, many are unaware of the repercussions of identity production in the virtual world. People are too drawn to its ease of communication and the ready pool of networking sites which results in them getting more and more immersed in identity production in the virtual world that unknowingly, they are compromising on the time spent with the customary face-to-face interaction. This is my point of concern. Identity production through digital communities lacks physical indications, responsibility, credibility and patience which contribute greatly to the production of identity. Without these factors, one is hindered in crafting his or her identity accurately and at the same time, they are not able to gauge others accurately too. Hence if people solely depend on the virtual world to craft their identity, it is insufficient. People can use virtual networking sites as a practice ground but this should not substitute identity production through social networking in the real communities.…

Computers have become an indispensable device for us for three main reasons. First of all, one can write more effectively by means of a computer. A computer allows as to create documents, edit, print, and store them so that they can be recovered later. Furthermore, there are tools like spelling and grammar checker, thesaurus and dictionary, installed in the computer. Also, typing is much faster than writing on a paper, for example, if there is a need for reorganizing the sentences or paragraphs, instead of writing it all over again, one can cut and paste and make the necessary changes. Secondly, one can remain connected to the world through the Internet. For example, the World Wide Web (WWW) or simply web is a huge resource of information that can be accessed via the Internet. To mention other resources, E-mail is a method of communication used globally, between friends, colleagues, business partners, and so on. Also, there are more facilities like online chatting available on the Internet. As compared to telephonic conversation, both e-mail and online chat are cost saving. Last but not least, one can perform a task such as banking, by sitting within the comfort of one's home, for example, there is no need to stand in the line for money withdrawing, depositing, or conducting other transactions. In addition, one can read current news, check weather conditions, plan vacations, and make hotel and travel reservations, among others. All in all, computers are a great advantage in terms of writing, global connectivity and comfort.…
