Rumors are a type of special communication. They are naive pieces of information that helps people to make sense of things that they are confused about. They usually are not wordy or complex. It would only take a few words for them to be descript. Rumors also can help and satisfy people emotionally and psychologically. When it comes down to it, they can both help or cause problems. There are three basic characteristics of rumors. First is how do they get around. The second characteristic is providing information, always specific in detail. The final characteristic is that a rumor satisfies. They express and satisfy the emotional needs of communities, so simply this is the “expressive” characteristic. There are many things that make a good rumor. Firstly, a good rumor shouldn’t have length and complexity so it confuses people. A rumor should be a good story, simplifying it is a good thing, so some elements can be distorted. The details should be familiar to a great number of people and don’t forget about a good beginning or no rumor at all. Lastly the rumor should work well with the culture, opinion and interest of those whom is spreading the rumor.
