Words I live by
Like most people, I too have certain mottos I live by and center my actions around. I always keep these quotes in my mind as I go about living my life and use them as a guideline to overcome any obstacles thrown my way. This paper will proceed to tell of two stories regarding how I came about these inspirational words and how my life was changed the moment I heard and believed.
No one is an exception to bad experiences or hard work, but the way each individual goes about to overcome these hardships is unique to their own life story. Some people choose to face their problems head on and won’t rest until they are solved. Others, run away from their problems or just ignore their problems all together, acting as if nothing is wrong. My personality follows the first group of individuals; I am willing to solve any of my problems in order to have a better life. Here comes the first episode of my life story. My father is an impressive entrepreneur and ever since I was young my family and I never had to worry about financial problems. However, our luck changed around 2008 and 2009, when my father’s business got really bad along with the rise of the Korean exchange rate, it had almost doubled during this time. Having troubles paying for things that they needed at hand such as housing and food, receiving allowance from my parents as I was studying abroad in America was out of the question. Eventually, my parents wanted me to go back to Korea and enter the Korean army. But I stubbornly defied their wishes and thought, “I can survive on my own, with or without their help. ” Here, my terrible life began; I was a student as well as a fulltime worker going around finding any place that would hire me so that I could raise money for my living expenses. I tried working at a sushi restaurant, tofu restaurant, bars, pubs, liquor stores, as a chauffeur service and even as a water store delivery man—all on top of

Each and everyone have their own strengths and weaknesses and each one of us deals with the situations as we can. In my case there have been many things in my path but I tend to just push them aside and keep walking with my head held high. My life from the start was always every interesting times were tough, as a Hispanic family there was never much money in the household. Both my parents are of Hispanic heritage, they came from families that worked in fields and in cloth factories just to make ends meet. Not much has changed since then, till this day my parents need to work from 8 am to 6pm just to make ends meet and sometimes that’s not even enough.…

When we think we can't push anymore, we can push a little harder. When we think we're done, we're not. Our society has grown up under the impression that we aren't good enough, we're not strong enough, or we're not fast enough. So ever since I've heard that, I have pushed harder than I thought was possible, pushed past the limit. However at the same time it also personally impacts me because in the concentration camps they had to persevere, a lot. And I can relate a lot to perseverance because I have grown up swimming and the hard practices take a lot of perseverance. “Night” by Elie Wiesel teaches us all to persevere through the hard times and push ourselves past the limit. This is why I chose this…

In order to live deliberately, we must be able to enlighten our minds and open our hearts to ideas that are different from our own. In Thoreau’s journal entries, he says, “cultivate the tree which you have found to bear fruit in your soil.” To me, the soil symbolizes the human essence, the tree symbolizes the opportunities we receive, and the fruit symbolizes the great actions that a person has done with the opportunities brought to them. When it comes to personal successes, we must be able to move forward at a constant rate. When we look back at all of our past failures or triumphs, we inhibit our ability to live in the now.…

Also my family’s current situation was very bleak. My parents was going through a rough patch. This was not new to me though due to the majority of their marriage being a rough patch. Even though I tried to stay optimistic through these rough patches; I would soon become depressed due to the current situation. All though my physical appearance was spot on; my mental state of mind was slowly deteriorating. All though I was going through one of the most difficult times in my life; my mother would not step up to the plate to take care of her children. This would be the argument that would end my relationship between my mother and…

My life started out like the beginning of a perfect childhood. Both of my parents had steady, well-paying government jobs, we had moved into a new home and even bought a puppy. All was harmonious, until my parents decided we would have a better life in Canada. Leaving behind everything and everyone we knew was probably one of the hardest things my parents ever did for my brother and me. Struggling to fit in and assimilate was least of our problems, trying to make a decent income became a priority. My parents, who were well educated and accomplished, were compelled to settle for multiple meager jobs like a cashier at a fast food restaurant or a security guard at an apartment building. They held as many jobs as they could, working…

Life has been rough, but I’m a very determined person. It all started when I turned fourteen years old. Being this young really made me wretched at the fact that I had to work for my necessities and wants. Watching other teenagers get their desires made me realize how challenging life was for oneself. I didn’t appreciate my dad’s actions and how they contrived my life. At the time, I was just an ordinary teenager wanting to be equivalent to others and having materialistic things.…

I was born and raised in a family of 9 siblings. Out of the 9, only one was able to make it to college and acquire an associate degree. This was because both my parents were just small-scale farmers they therefore, couldn’t afford to take all the siblings through college. When I joined school, life was exceptionally hard. I went through a lot of struggles in both my lower and high school education. Firstly, I couldn’t afford all the stationery materials I needed for school like books, uniforms and revision materials. Moreover, school fees was the major issue. Due to my parents’ less earning, they would barely manage to pay schools fees since they had to spend the little they had on food and clothing. I also had to walk very long distance to…

During my short existence on this planet I’ve become the type of person that I have wanted to be. To this day, I hold no regrets about my actions because I know that every decision I have made in my life was my own, and whether good or bad I have had complete control. Don’t get me wrong, I do face outside pressures from circumstances around me; however, I consider those circumstances and continue to make a truly original decision. Although overwhelming, I have learned quite a bit from my decisions, but as the saying goes “In life you better yourself by learning from your own mistakes”. This tough way of life has brought added stress and difficulty; however, inspiration and happiness are easier to attain .…

It must have been a dry and meaningless life if nothing impels anyone to do something. As for me, I preoccupied myself with the responsibility that I have with my family. My mantra : When I’m doing the best for my family I am doing it for someone above. It all revolves around the same principle as I go around my weekly routine. Thus, I have to joggle from one job to another and one appointment to another. I am too engrossed with earning income in order to secure the needs of the family. I rushed to obtain insurance coverage for at least 3 firms and invest in securities to at least secure the future of my family. I struggled to increased my savings in my back accounts. I overburdened myself of acquiring properties in instalment basis. I had taken up these challenges overzealously in the interest of my family and their future.…
