How Is The Atomic Bomb Justified
In 1945, when the atomic bomb was dropped in Japan I felt that it was not justified. Even though it saved thousands of American lives it was at the cost of others lives. The United States could have gave the Japanese a warning before dropping not one, but two bombs on them. However, the Japanese did not surrender until after the second bomb I think a warning would have made the bombing “justified.” To begin with, even though the United States and Japan were at war and were protected their own citizens they could've tried to prevent the war a little further. President Truman should have warned the Japanese and let them know what the United States was capable of. However, he ordered the people to drop the bomb with no warning. However, if the Japanese did not agree to surrender after the warning then the bombs could have been dropped and had been “justified.” I also feel that the United States went in thinking about it the wrong way. “Interested in producing the “greatest psychological effect,” the Committee members agreed that the “most desirable target would be a vital war plant employing a large number of workers and closely surrounded by workers’ houses.” (Interim Committee Meeting, 1945) The people should not have wanted to kill innocent people only and maybe they
