How Is Race Different From Ethnicity
According to Nanda and Warms, the anthropological definition of ethnicity is “ perceived differences in culture, national origin and historical experiences by which groups of people are distinguished from others in the same social group” (pg. 177). Ethnicity and race is different and similar at the same time. Race is biological, while ethnicity is cultural. Race is different from ethnicity because race is your physical features or genetic traits, like the color of your skin, the texture of your hair, eye color, nose shape. Race can be like being black, white and etc; while ethnicity is like being Hispanic or Latino. Ethnicity is associated with religion, heritage, the language we speak and the list goes goes on.
