These days cell phones dominates our life. It makes things much more convenient by enabling us to communicate others anywhere we go in a small amount of time. One of the most used functions on a cell phone is not the phone, but the almost instant text messaging. With the unlimited possibilities that one can do with texting, it is as popular as ever. This wonderful shortcut does have its downsides. Studies show how the radiation emitted from these phone can damage brain cells. It can take up a large amount of time that can be used for something more important. A tap on the keys is all it takes and texting eliminates the use of any physical contact with the person. It does not give one a chance to put their oral and speaking skills to the test and many can develop a habit when they are constantly checking their cell phone – not for phone calls, but text messages. It has the ability to make people mentally brainwashed. Texting can be very addictive. Since it is addictive many of us can spend more time texting than we would. People who texts too much use up a large proportion of their own time and there would be little time for the priorities in life. With cell phones, what we cannot see is one of the concerns of health everyone should taken into account. To remain wireless and portable cell phones emit an invisible electromagnetic wave to stay in contact with the network provider. They are so powerful that too much exposure can damage brain cells and cause cancer. Yet, people had neglected this knowledge simply because the appearance of a cell phone does not underlies this potential health hazard. Ask yourself why every time people had to turn off their cell phones on a plane and you will see that the radiation is strong enough to distort the plane's communication system. How could it be harmless? Most texting requires the phone to be near the user and considering the time most people spent texting it is definitely not minimum exposure. The more shocking truth we must acknowledge is how young the cell phone users are getting. In this high-tech world people always wanted the latest and the best and kids are no exceptions. What would have been a great birthday present a few years ago would now be replaced by demands of mobiles and iPods.
