How Does Technology Enhance Civic Engagement?
I Hope Civic engagement means, “Working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference. It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes.” It means every human being have to be involved in building the best place to live for each individual. In the quote by Morelli, "Being distracted reduces our empathy for others and blunts responses in the brain,” and how I mentioned in question number 3, I have a big concern about the relationship between how we are using technology and empathy. In consequence, I will try to bring ideas how we can use technology to enhance civic engagement. …show more content…
; however, we are still learning how to use it in a proper way. The purpose of social media can be more than just share photos and happy happy moments. We can see some advantages how social media can be useful in civic engagement. For example, Facebook implemented a safe mode that we can use when something big happens like earthquakes. Also, we can see that all social media are interconnected, if you post something on Instagram, it can be posted at the same time on Facebook. Hence, I thought why don't create a social media with the purpose to help people. However, it can be complex because it can be dangerous sometimes. We maybe have the will to help others, but we do not have the knowledge to do it. In addition, this society is money oriented, so how far people can put money away from their mines to help others if they have the knowledge to do
