How Does 9/11 Affect Society
On September 11, 2001 at 8:46 am, a plane hit the twin towers in New York City; thus, causing an event that would kill 2,977 Americans. That first plane started the devastation of 9/11 and will forever mark a national tragedy. On 09/11/2001 four planes in three different locations were hijacked by terrorists and were used to attack America. At first this was looked at as a possible accident until the second plane crashed, it was clear in that moment that this was not an accident. President George Bush was alerted about this incident while at a Florida Elementary School, which caused him to go into immediate hiding. The events of 9/11 impacted the way America looks at society and terrorism. This is illustrated by the jarring events of the day and the reactions of Americans to this day. The Pentagon in Washington D.C was one of the 3 places hit on 9/11. The Pentagon building is a large pentagon shaped, five story building. The Pentagon is the building for the United States Department of Defense and it nearby the White House. 4 planes were hijacked by people sent from Osama Bin Laden. Some Americans reactions today, are based off of the events of 9/11. It is commonly associated that if you’re a muslim, you’re a terrorist because of who hijacked the planes. People started to look at the people in society differently because of the constant fear of not knowing what could happen at any moment and what people were capable of. People who are old enough to remember 9/11 get emotional talking about the events because all of the shock and devastation. “I visited the Pentagon a few days after September 11, and I still remember so vividly the smell of terror surrounding the entire building and complex. I was angry that such a brutal act of violence was committed against innocent people.”- Randy
