How Do I Decide Which Films to Watch
How do I decide which films to watch? Well for me making that decision it is not as easy as picking up a book and saying I will watch this film. I have to take in to consideration how much free time I have on my hands. I also have to see what kind of mood I’m in. Time is one of the most precious things that I have and to be able to give 1 1/2 to 2 hours watching a movie, it has to be worth it. Then there are many film genres to choose from, I usually like Action/Adventure and Comedy. My mood determines on what type of film I watch. I look inside myself to see what I like, and then I decide what catches my imagination.

What makes a film enjoyable? To me a good film has personality and it keeps you holding on for more. It makes you want to know what is going to happen next. The actors and actress in the film are the people who I feel I can relate to. Good films make people jump in their seat. It is a film you would look at again and again. One of my favorite films that I enjoy watching over and over again is “Air Force One”. It makes you think about what if something like this happens for real. How would our President react? Films to me are like life they began and then they End.

What makes a film unenjoyable? A film that is not enjoyable to me is one that is very predicable, one that you know what is going happen before it happens. A film with no story line is not an enjoyable film. A good example for me would be some of the Screwball Comedy like “Jack Ass” That is not an enjoyable film in my opinion. Given about 2 or 4 hours to sit back, hope the mood is right, pick out a good quality movie to watch, I do not think I have to worry about seeing any bad films; I’ll treat it like the sun. If I can not see it in the sun, it is not there.

The first film is Pulp Fiction. The order that I would categorize is Plot being number one because the stories in the film make the whole story of the two hit men make it the most important. The second being Character, the main characters in the movie make the audience have the thriller and gory experience. I third I would say is diction, because dialogue has humor and intensity. The fourth would be music; I think music makes the audience feel the emotions with the different scenes. Fifth idea, because the theme being comedy and violence. Sixth, is being Spectacle.…

I have been enjoying going to the movies for over 20 and have never stopped loving the experience. I even remember the name of my first movie “The Land Before Time.” It was about a baby dinosaur that had lost his mother and had to make a great journey to the Great Valley to find his grandparents. In the end he does find them, after a great adventure with friends. I have always love movies that have a happy ending and also a little adventure. Another story that I read that had a happy ending was an essay called “Going to the Movies” by Susan Allen Toth 1980. In this essay she writes about what type of experiences she has with four different friends when she goes to the movies with them. Also, another essay I have read recently is called “A Century of Cinema” 1995…

The actors may be the most visible elements on the screen, but a number of other craftsmen had to perform a lot of other functions in order to get that finished film in front of an audience. In life, we realize that we all have different views and that is what makes our thinking different. When it comes to watching a movie; whether it is horror, action, or comedy, we tend to think of the movies differently based on the way we think of life. People do not go see a movie for the same reasons. Some go just to show off that they saw the movie that everyone was talking about over the weekend and some go see a movie just to take their girlfriend out on a date. Most of the time, we do not go see a movie because we think we are going to learn something from it. We usually go just for entertainment. We learn something from every film we watch. If one whole group of people watched the same film they will learn something different based on the social economic and environment experiences they have had.…

What makes a good movie? Many things can contribute to making a movie good, like the actors, plot, type of movie, the writing, special effects, its budget and so forth. But it actually depends on the person because one person may think a movie is good, and then the other may think it was a waste of their time. See, I can explain what makes a good movie to me by elaborating off of 5 of my favorite movies. Well first off, a good movie has to be an action, comedy, or horror movie for me. Second, the movie itself has to contain a plot worth watching. To further elaborate on the subject, here are my favorite 5 movies. Which of course is The Matrix, Fight Club, Saw 2, Half Baked, and Snatch.…

Storytelling is more important to me than anything else, and I believe film is one of the most rewarding and honest forms of storytelling. Ever since I was a little kid I have been in love with movies. When I was nine I got a camcorder for Christmas, and I would make my friends help me remake scenes from my favorite movies, and when they said the lines wrong I would yell at them and make them do it over and over until they got it right or got so annoyed with me that they went home.…

In order for a film to be enjoyable for me, it must have a good plot. I also value character building, although in some movies it is not as important as others. I can say, personally I do enjoy watching horror films. Watching horror films always have me at the edge of my seat, just anticipating for something to happen. The unexpected plots and scenes always gets my adrenaline pumping. Although, it seems very cliché with some horror films, I still always find myself screaming and yelling. In my opinion, I believe that’s the whole point when it comes to watching horror movies. Many of us, seek out horror films to get that rush of adrenaline. Although, many of these horror movies are not real, but people still what the thrill. I think that the main difference between a good film or song and a bad one is the ability for the audience to relate to the content. When the audience can relate to a piece of art from personal experience is when the piece of art can truly be called “artistic”. People don’t want to just listen to a song or see a movie and think that it was cool and fun to watch, but to take something from the art’s material and be able to comprehend the message that is being presented. I think that art is best when it fulfills both categories. I like films and songs that have a good message, applicable to my life, and are also entertaining. I have been watching the show “Breaking Bad” since the first season came out and I have learned a lot more about life in general than I knew before. You watch the protagonist, Walter White, go from an innocent chemistry teacher to a homicidal methamphetamine cook. The show presents many life lessons in very unique ways. I truly love this show because by watching it, I learn a little bit more about myself and different ways to see the world. It is shows like this that can actually be defined as “artistic”; they present a good entertaining story but also incorporate personal experiences that can apply to a broad audience. I have watched movies before that I’ve enjoyed due to the entertainment it presented rather than what I got out of it. Shows like this are not “artistic”, but entertaining. There is a big difference between a film being fun to watch and a film that presents useful material to apply to the outside world.…
