Scientists realized that by using the same technology they could create images of the inside of the human body; Operators utilize transducers to send sound waves through the human body which in turn project images onto a screen in a process commonly known as ultrasounds. Many people associate ultrasounds to only be used to see a fetus in the womb but there are actually a variety of specializations and purposes ultrasounds are used for including to examine musculoskeletal systems, the abdomen, internal organs, vascular systems and more. The images that sonographers create aid doctors and physicians to identify internal problems and issues that cannot be seen through any other method. Medical Ultrasonographers are expected to prepare patients for examinations by explaining the procedure, clean the patient's skin before applying gel, and then use ultrasound equipment to produce images of blood, muscle tissue, and internal organs. A Sonographers main goal should be to always put the patients needs first and make certain that they are comfortable and calm during the examination. Sonographers should also have a thorough knowledge of internal anatomy and be attentive to detail as even small irregularities in an image can signal something wrong within the patient which they must then document and pass on to the doctor to aid them in forming a diagnosis. Sonographers live an active lifestyle as they are on their feet for extended periods of time and often need to move and position ill or disabled patients. Ultrasonographers also need to have the ability to multitask as they have to control and maintain their mechanical equipment to ensure it is working properly and outputting accurate information while simultaneously interacting with and communicating with their patients. In addition to their regular duties sonographers can take on other responsibilities, “Some may perform other medical duties, including taking vital signs or administering oxygen. Experienced sonographers may supervise other sonographers or
