How Did Scrooge Grow Up In A Christmas Carol
I grew up in thirty days. I was eleven and had to learn how to survive without my family, to keep up with school work without the benefit of a teacher, and to manage my own finances. As a child, my parents would read the story of A Christmas Carol to me. The protagonist, Scrooge, is a man who lost his sense of kindness and just needs to look inside himself to find the good that is in everyone. I was given the opportunity to play the role of Belinda Cratchit on Nebraska Theatre Caravan’s Midwest production of A Christmas Carol. This would mean I would miss two months of school due to rehearsal and performance. I would also be away from my family for thirty days.
