How Did Mary Slessor Became An American

Even before women were valuable enough to cast a vote in America, there were women chosen by God to do extremely powerful ministry for the kingdom of God. Mary Slessor, Margaret Marsh, and Amy Carmichael each had a distinct calling from God to serve overseas. These women overcame many obstacles like health deficiencies and doubt from others to take the gospel to all nations. Their inspiring stories are worth telling for generations to come.
Mary Slessor was a hardworking Scottish missionary who was inspired by David Livingstone. She grew up in the slums of Dundee in a one room house with her parents and five siblings. Some of the advantages were being less intimidating. Mary Slessor went where many missionaries had been killed before and made many close relationships with the tribes. This is because she didn't seem threatening to the tribes. Another advantage for the women was that many of the children felt comforted by their mothering natures and came to them to find safety. Many young women and girls came to live with Amy Carmichael to get away from prostitution in the temples. Mary Slessor was able to save many young children from being left on the streets to die. Margaret was a school teacher in Africa and she taught the kids many life lessons. Some of the disadvantages were being told they couldn't go to certain places places because they were too dangerous. Mary was told multiple times not to go to inland Africa because there were not enough ways of transportation to get there and get back. Margaret Marsh had to go to Africa all alone and didn't have anyone to consult with to help her make decisions. Amy was not allowed to go to many places because she had a special health condition that caused her to have to stay in bed for many
