How Did Galileo Contribute To The Scientific Revolution

The Scientific Revolution lasted between 1540-1690. Although in 1453 the Ottoman Turks invaded the city Constantinople, scholars fled west bringing ancient knowledge just in time as Europe started to challenge Aristotle's physics. Advancements in many fields of science were made. Astronomy was the highest developed field advanced during the Scientific Revolution. A majority was relating to work from Aristoles. Until the Scientfic Revolution many theorised that the earth was the center of the galaxy. However this theory could not mathematically account for the motion of the stars and planets.

His famous nickname is “The Father of Modern Science” because of his pioneering observations that made the foundation for modern physics and astronomy. Galileo as a young child earned a proper education in Florence at Camaldolese monastery, Vallombrosa. He then entered the University of Pisa to study medicine but he soon gained interest in mathematics and physics. As a professor in mathematics he made pioneering observations but Galileo was accused twice of heresy by the catholic church. Soon after accused Galileo died January 8, 1642. Galileo supported his research through a a minor teaching position. He study objects in motion and published The Little Balance, and produced his manuscript Du Motu. He provided evidence to the Copernican theory, he wrote letters to students ecplaining the Copernican theory and held lectures regrading how the motion of the earth applied to Copernican. For seven years Galileo obeyed order to make life easier and because he was a devoted Catholic, but Galileo know that the Copernican theory did not contridict the bible. So, Galileo did not publish to many contraversial text for fear the reaction of the
