How Did Clarisse Change Montag's Life
“I’m seventeen and I’m crazy.” Clarisse, the odd seventeen year old with the memories, and Mildred, the “love” of Guy Montag’s life; both these women left a great impact on Guy’s life. Mildred lives her normal same everyday life until she begins tests her limits with Montag and the books. Clarisse disappears after knowingly sharing her memories and judgments on the past world.
All people of the city, including Montag and his wife, have all been brainwashed into thinking the world they live in is how the world has always been. Montag’s believes beyond everything that reading the books is going to help him create a better thought on Clarisse and her so called memories she gave to him. Eventually Mildred says she is over her fear of breaking the law and she begins to read the books with Montag (Bradbury ??). Montag notices that Clarisse, and even her family, have gone missing, he starts stressing out because at that moment Montag trusted what Clarisse shared with him and he was intrigued to know and learn more. Mildred mentions to Montag that she was positive Clarisse had been in a car accident and passed away. Clarisse had always been the odd duck in that world’s opinion, but to Montag she is interesting and full of knowledge. The similarities between Clarisse and Mildred are slim but the numerous differences between Clarisse and not only Mildred are obvious. Clarisse is a stranger, she is an outsider to their world. Although she only is included in Montag’s life for a little bit the impact she leaves is almost automatic to Montag.
