This was one of the many mathematical breakthroughs that helped evolve Eurasia’s culture into a more complex, educated and diverse culture. Mathematicians were even able to roughly calculate the circumference of the Earth. This means they not only had the mathematical principles but also applied them . This shows the maturing of Math During the Hellenistic Age, as a result of Alexander's conquests. Not only was math affected, but mechanical sciences also improved the invention the steam engine occurred , and invention still used today to transport goods.
