How Communication Affect Children's Social And Emotional Development
Children are constantly growing and learning. The first few years of a child’s life are vital for social and emotional skills to grow. Even in infancy the child learns so much. For instance, at birth, the child cries when hungry, or uncomfortable. As he or she grows, they learn to trust and recognize their caretakers or parents, and become more dependent on their touch and sounds. As the child ages, closer to one-year-old, the child learns to reach for people he or she may know. They also learn to play between this age, enjoying interaction with others, and becoming observant in their surroundings. Sharing has been learned, and playing in groups are common at this age. Interactions and imagination are common to see at this age also. Emotions are still being learned but better understood and how to handle certain feeling in certain situations. Four to five year olds, typically have a much better hold on their emotions. They can also play independently, as well as in groups. Their imaginations can create new games for themselves and friends to learn and play. They seek approval from adults, respecting a praise and or disciplinary word. They can express their needs and wants, and even counter argue when not given a response they like. They are capable of understanding friendship, and obtaining relationships with other kids on a basic level. Though each step in a child’s life brings new skills and growths each stage is a huge milestone in their social and emotional development for when they are olds.
