Honors Transfer Rider Program Analysis
When I transferred to Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), I was fortunate to be selected to the Honors Transfer Fellows program. As a requirement of this program, I was required to complete an undergraduate thesis and take additional classes along with the regular curriculum for my major. While this project was a valuable experience, it was also challenging to balance the workload of conducting thesis research, attending classes, working part time, and working as a clinician at the MTSU Speech Clinic. Over the past year, I have developed skills, such as time management and prioritization, that have helped me succeed as a student at MTSU. Additionally, completing a thesis while attending classes and working has helped me become an independent student. To explain, over the course of the entire project, I had only two deadlines, one for the proposal submission and one for thesis submission. As a result, I had to create my own deadlines for various aspects of the thesis, such as data collection and analysis. …show more content…
These skills have greatly contributed to my academic success as I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and successfully completed my thesis. Also, some of these skills have been beneficial at my job as I have been promoted twice in the past year. I believe the projects and classes I have taken have not only academically prepared me for graduate school, but also given me the necessary skills to be successful while furthering my education. In particularly, as the program at New York University is online, I will need to utilize my strengths of independently setting and meeting deadlines, time management, and prioritization to be successful in this program. I am confident that I have developed the necessary skills and study habits to successfully complete the online graduate program at New York

Samuel Clemens advised “Go to bed early, get up early-this is wise”, and by appreciating the soundness of his words, rarely, if ever, do I find myself in the chaos of late morning traffic. By accomplishing little everyday small tasks such as getting up early in time for a healthy breakfast or studying in motivating environments allows me to be extremely productive and effective as a student at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). For the past seven months, I’ve held an environmental specialist internship at the Santa Rosa Water Department that goes hand-in-hand with my dedication and efforts at the junior college. Over the past two years, it has been my pleasure to participate in courses and to become a part of the SRJC culture. I am motivated and eager to continue to develop a strong background of calculus, general chemistry, biology and critical thinking, and expanding physics, engineering and organic chemistry. My overarching education goal is to receive a bachelors of science in environmental engineering or hydrologic science. My top three universities of choice are UC Berkley and Cal Poly for their environmental engineering programs and UC Santa Barbara for hydrologic…

Even though a person taking on too many responsibilities can lead to his or her downfall, personal responsibility can lead to success in higher education. Because responsibility is the force that binds an individual to the course of action demanded by the goal, personal responsibility can incur beneficial habits and admirable behaviors that will advocate successful outcome. The state of New York once sought to raise $24 million in donations to give to poor residents as an incentive to stay in school, stay at work, and stay on track (Traub, 2006). I will be revealing some examples, to implement, of personal responsibility and demonstrating how I intend to enact them in my own pursuit of higher education. The two tools that I will be discussing and relating to myself are planning and time management. I will also divulge how personal responsibility can be damaging and lead to unsuccessfulness.…

Since this was an Advance Placement (AP) class, the teacher was allowing students the freedom of investigation and off-task conversation. Remember AP courses are designed to replace entry level college courses if the students passes the AP exam and the college accepts AP credit. So if this assignment was given as a group activity on the college level would the professor care about any of the conversations or inquirers the group had at Starbucks? Also most schools, like this one, have secured internet system that prevent student’s unbridled access to the internet and monitor student’s activity on their servers. When the original questions was asked the typical teenager response, which precipitated the investigations, was “Go ask Google”.…

    Queen's Core Values Essay

Organizing all I wish to do and accomplish in a way that reflects my values, however, is a promising place to start. Writing down my scattered thoughts and organizing my projects, something I learned from Making It all Work by David Allen, is also beneficial, as it allows me to be fully present during my next task. That is because every distraction has its place on a list. Likewise, by completing my Personal Scope and Personal Schedule, I was able to add some reality to my hopes for the year. By doing these exercises, I was able to better understand the amount of time at hand, the priority I should give to certain situations, and how to make my weekly life reflect the values I hold. It shook me slightly how much time my commitment to work, for example, took away from studying and socializing with friends. By putting my job under “assumption” on the Personal Scope I was better able to picture the time I have. This also allowed me to find a balance between the obligations that need to be met, my extracurriculars and my activities of interest, as well as specific time reserved for myself. This balance will be essential if I hope to complete this year at optimal mental and physical…

I am going to have to set expectations for myself that are reasonable and manageable for having two children, a full time job, a dog and a husband. “Decide on a reasonable timeline for graduation and budget carefully to balance family with grad school.” (Garner, 2013). I do not want to take time away from what little family time we have. I am going to have to work on doing homework during football practice or ballet while I’m sitting there waiting for it to end. Now if it 's a game or recital my children will obviously have my fulltime attention. I am going to have to figure out ways to get assignments done before my husband gets home or wait to do them when he is on the night shift and the children are already in bed. Time with family is precious and you cannot get it back so finding little breaks in the day/night to get homework completed is a must. Children and husbands take naps, go to work/school, have different work schedules, etc. I just have to make that time, search for it and utilize it the best and most efficient way that I…

Beginning in the fall of 2014 as I arrived at Onondaga Community College for my first semester of college I realized that school is full of plans, expectations and goals. Me as a student, I am very dedicated to my work and I always try my best to be the best academic student I can be. Although, I love going to school sometimes I find it difficult and have a hard time with handing all my assignments on time. Also, keeping focused on the teacher instead of the detractions around me can be hard for me at time. This is something I would like to work on greatly this semester and in the semesters that follow. As time goes on throughout my academic experiences I would like to strengthen all my weaknesses and one day become a social worker and help out others in need. Social working has always been a dream of mine, since I was a young girl I always wanted to be the one to help others that need it. I have been told by relatives, teachers and past counselors that social working would be a great field for me; they also say I am a very strong working girl with a very big heart. I would like to…
