In society, there are different ways that a male or female should present themselves and what is normal for them could be weird to others. In “Honor Code” by David Brooks, he explains what it is like for a boy to be in school and the ways it is the school's fault for their learning troubles. Deborah Tannen’s, “His Politeness Is Her Powerlessness,” persuades her readers to see that women are viewed as powerless, while men are the powerful ones when it comes to things like communicating. Inferences can be made after reading these articles about whether these authors wrote because of personal experiences or just what they have seen. Also from personal experience, many people most likely see things that follow or go against gender norms.…

An Honor Code is a great thing to have for students. It is a code where students are expected to not cheat and report others for cheating. It is a great thing to have for students because it holds them up to certain standards and shows what is expected of them. Having an honor code for Hotchkiss would improve the quality and integrity of its students. It isn't just enough having an honor code, it must be maintained and enforced. An honor code that isn't enforced would not be profitable for anyone. It isn't just enough to sign a piece of paper, although it is a good start, it should be enforced with appropriate…

One thing that I greatly appreciated, when I was deciding which univeristy to attend, was how well Texas A&M expressed the Aggie Code of Honor. "Aggies do not lie, cheat, or steal or tolerate those who do." A very simple saying, but one that is heard and seen all around campus. It is tied to the university as much as the word "Howdy". It is great that this motto of academic integrity is already stiched to Texas A&M because its easier for professors and the university to promote academic integrity. Professors and the university need to continue to explicitly preach the Aggie Code of Honor throughout the semester as a reminder for students. Also one thing that students are not knowlegeable of are the consequences of acting acadebmically dishonest.…

This positive loops leads to an expanding culture of trust and integrity. In a study of two hundred seventy five people, Source E, it showed that only eight percent of the two hundred seventy five people, would report someone if they were cheating. Cheating is one of the worst things you can do but no one really care telling the teacher. No one will stop cheating until they have consequences for their actions. The honor code system should be enforce in all schools so its promotion of academic integrity and creation of a great learning…

The narrator plagiarizes a short story and is kicked out of school for violating the schools Honor Code. Like all schools, Severn School in the 1960’s also dealt with misconduct. “Nothing to say? Mr. Lambert said. When I didn't answer, he shrugged and shook his head. You've dishonored our class, Goss said.”(145). Goss shows the importance of the Honor Code at this boarding school and how ashamed the faculty was after finding out the narrator had plagiarized. The Honor Code at Severn School provides guidelines that the headmaster put in place that each student is expected to follow.
