Honesty Is the Best Policy
Good morning to one and all, today I, Ansh Arvind of class XI-A, am here to present a speech on the topic “Honesty is the best policy”. When I was given this topic I was flabbergasted. I didn’t know what to do and thought of the only option that is to search for it on the internet. As I turned my computer on, I realized that by doing this I was not being honest towards myself.
This quotation ‘Honesty is the best policy’ was said by many great men. These include the great writer, author and poet, William Shakespeare and the famous writer Mark Twain and Steve Landesberg.
Honesty, the quality of being honest, is a value which can be defined in multiple ways. In the context of human communication, people are generally said to be honest when they tell the truth to the best of their knowledge and do not hide what they know or think. Apart from being truthful, honesty is also generally thought to involve abstaining from unfair behavior, such as stealing or cheating on a test. It is the quality of being honest.
In the modern world of today everything moves fast .Almost all of us qfeel a part of this rat race towards success, fame or money. Lost in this we seem to forget the morals and values that are the very basis of our existence and tend to believe that ''everything is fair in love and war, even if it involves using unfair means or lying. Here we are faced with the question ''is honesty always the best policy''.

The question is not as easy as it may seem since opinions will dwindle depending on the context of the situation. However if I had to choose one, I would prefer to go the archaic way and say that honesty is certainly the best policy.

The reason for advocating this is the firm belief in the fact that no matter how hard hearted or success driven we become, the core of a man always remains same. Hypocritical hankering for materialistic comforts may give temporary happiness but if we achieve something by using unfair means our conscience is always

As Reflected in classical mythology society is complicated. The immortal and indispensable phrase ‘honesty is the best policy’ [1] could have been making a reference to war of 1812, but probably not. An issue that has been highly controversial regarding honesty has been whether it is ever right to lie. Some people would argue that lying is not always morally wrong. From this perspective, telling a lie can be beneficial because the truth sometimes causes more damage than a lie would. To illustrate, a person might lie about how someone looks so that they are not offended. However, others argue that it is never morally right to lie. Stephanie Ericsson, who maintains this view, argues in her essay “The Ways We Lie” that “When someone lies, someone loses” (425). According to this view, a lie always leads to someone being negatively affected. Therefore, lying is wrong because it always results in someone being harmed. In sum, the issue is whether lying is moral or immoral.…

    1. Sacramento State University has a strict Academic Honesty policy, which requires students to adhere to a set of guidelines when doing homework or writing an essay for any class at the University. As a student, the responsibility of following this policy is major when testing, writing, or any other homework for a class at the University. The student is responsible for all of his/her work, and making sure there is no dishonest behavior or plagiarism present when doing the work. An example of a violation would be logging on a computer, going to a site such as USAToday.com, finding an article, copying the article text word-for-word, and including that same text in your paper or essay. The opposite of that scenario would be simply complying with the policy. That would involve researching a topic, again logging onto a computer, and going to a website such as USAToday.com. After you find an article for your paper, instead of just copying the article text word-for-word, a summary would be a way to start. Once you summarize the article, break the text down in your own words, and take the vital information from the article, without plagiarizing.…

Telling the truth is an important part of a trusting relationship, in or out of the workplace. Of course, honesty needs to be combined with other qualities such as patience, compassion and an open mind to differences in opinion. However, once you have established a foundation of honesty between you and your coworkers, an office begins to operate as a unified team rather than a collection of individual entities who will keep information to themselves. Not only does this make the organization more efficient, with…

Often, people say that honesty is the best policy and is defined as the act of telling the truth to the best of one’s knowledge. Coupled with the definition of honesty is the belief that telling the truth all the time is good because of certain reasons. Primary motive is that many consider saying the truth as an aid in improving one’s self. For instance, one project organizer asks one of the staff if the theme chosen for the occasion is well suited. Then, one of the personnel has the guts to tell the truth that a better theme is fitted for the event. The project organizer will then have a better idea, thereupon aiding to the betterment of the organized project. Likewise, saying the truth helps us to earn others’ trusts. According to Nathalie Himmelrich, in her article entitled Truth versus Honesty: Is there a Difference , even though the explanation of the word ‘trust’ does not distinctively take into account the word honesty, it is implied in the word. Similarly, stating what reality…

The ability to have honesty is to do the right thing even if it may be hard. Honesty starts with a vision of what is right, not based on what somebody says is right but on what you feel in your heart is right. A year ago, one of my best friends wanted to participate in a talent show at school. She always had a thing for singing and she sang all the time. Where ever she went she had a song in her head. Unfortunately she did not have the best voice to carry out her songs. So one day I sat her down before the…
