Honesty In The Great Gatsby

What is honesty? To everyone honesty is different to some it is speaking nothing but the truth and to others honesty is telling part of the truth and possibly keeping other parts out of the equation. People can view themselves as honest meanwhile other people may call that very person a liar. We were taught that in first person stories there is never really truth you have opinions no matter what first person story your read the character will always put their opinion in or even possible even make themselves look better then they actually are. He talks about what people seem like to him. He always speaks in a condescending manner that just shows that he is almost trying to prove something to the reader that he is better then everyone else. He talks down about Gatsby's house before he meets Gatsby in such a I am better then you tone because I am old money "The one on my right was a colossal affair by any standered ". That word, any, really is the kicker so any one but the owner would recognize it as a huge affair. He talks about Meyer Wolfsheim with such disdain talking about how he eats with his arm around his watching for others to take his food. He also talks about how he talks. Meyer talks like he is educated when he isn't really he says Oggsford instead of Oxford. So is Nick honest in his descriptions of people? There is no right or wrong answer for this but I have to say no. He is not as honest as he states. I feel he is hiding something that is why he is constantly bringing everyone one around him down, Why he speaks badly about everyone. He also is keeping secrets from people. He has Gatsby and Daisy's secret of them being in a secret relationship. He also keeps the secret of whom Tom is sleeping with. He lies to Daisy when he invites her over. He is told to invite her and to tell her that it is just her and him at his house drinking tea and he does "I'm going to call up Daisy to-morrow and invite her over her to tea". He lies to her about it and it may be justified to him and Gatsby even Jordan but he still lied. He isn't as honest as he states. The way he puts it he doesn't lie but he does and him stating this just shows that he lies to
