Ethics and moral obligations are issues we all encounter at one time or another. In the professional setting, all people should act in a manner that would uphold the good of society. To be ethical, one has to determine their obligations, moral ideas, and moral philosophy (Boatright, p. 19, 2009). The case analysis involving Jacob Franklin was a perfect example of how an individual can face the dilemma of doing what is right or wrong. Businesses have their own code of ethics, and the employees within the business have to determine whether or not they will follow the company’s code of conduct. I will discuss several ethical issues in the case analysis including; failure to report information, remaining silent regarding faulty equipment, and paying cash as a form of consideration to clients once the contract was signed. Honesty, Integrity, and Trust are all key factors in the cohesion of a unit. Knowing you can trust the other preforming members in your respective unit, builds a good team building environment that leads to the highest quality of success and increase of morale within the unit. Honesty above all is not only expected, but is a standard within the 75th Ranger Regiment, It builds character within an individual soldier, creates and maintains teamwork within the inner workings of the unit, and also improves self discipline. Integrity is also another standard that is held highly within the 75th Ranger Regiment. Integrity shows a soldiers level of maturity, self discipline, and leadership ability. Among these traits within a soldier, trust or trustworthiness brings these characteristics together. For A soldier that cannot be trusted can bring down a squad or team levels moral and ability to work together dramatically. These are the traits required to keep unit cohesion possible, their significance within not only any unit but the 75th Ranger Regiment is absolutely vital.
