Oil prices have recently been rising and will probably continue to rise as the world’s oil sources are depleted. This could mean that there will be a fall in demand for regular fuel cars and a rise in demand for smaller more efficient cars. Honda is producing hybrid technology which will seem more attractive due to higher oil prices. Also, as consumer confidence returns to the US economy, fuel efficient SUV’s are also an alternative to consumers who aren’t comfortable driving smaller cars on America’s highways. As Honda adjusts its production to a more fuel efficient or hybrid/electric technology, they will have the potential to see increased revenue.…

The automobile supply companies have limited bargaining power. There are so many supply firms and there are so many parts that are required to produce an automobile, requiring numerous suppliers, one would think that the automakers would be at the supplier’s mercy. However, the suppliers really have very little power. The suppliers tend to rely on one or two automakers to purchase the majority of their products. If the automaker decides to change suppliers, the effects to the supplier would be devastating. With the JIT (Just in Time) manufacturing methodology Honda utilizes, there is a push-pull mechanism. This warrants a strong relationship between manufacturer and suppliers. This also can be quite profitable for both organizations.…

The Honda Motor company was founded by Shoichira Honda – a fiercely competitive, self-taught engineer and mechanic. Infamous for antics such as throwing a wrench and hitting a mechanic on the head, and stripping “to the buff” in front of employees prior to assembling an engine, Honda was a mechanical genius with a deep commitment to technological innovation. His passion for racing translated into a “success against all odds” corporate culture that emphasized and rewarded personal initiative and innovation. Despite Honda’s mechanical prowess, the company did not have the basic elements of a successful business until after Takeo Fujisawa came on board as an investor and general manager in 1949.…

Your annual report 2011, expressed how Honda operates under the basic principles of “Respect for the Individual” and “The Three Joys” joy of buying, selling and creating. Honda’s commitment to these basic principles since its establishment in 1948 is why your company is the world’s leader in innovation and development of motor vehicles. Conversely, my opinion is that Honda is on the brink of something even more phenomenal. With a focus on fuel efficiency, hybrid vehicles and at affordable prices, Honda will become the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and automobiles. With your global network of 383 subsidiaries and 91 affiliates there is no reason to not see this happen within the next 3 years.…
